The title speaks for itself. I need something for my hip/legs, because I'm starting to find pants by themselves to be just plain boring. I almost went the road of a sarong, but upon pondering the image more, it just doesn't fit.
So! Does anyone know any other good accessories that could work? FYI, I already have 2 belts, a belt pouch, a thigh sheath, and boots that have knee guards. Any fashion help would be greatly appreciated!

Not sure if your char is male or female, I'm guessing female because of the sarong but anyways..
You could always go the route of a kilt, if your barb then your guild has some nice ones, there have been some nice kilts that have come out in the past at fests, not sure if any stores stock them though.
Also could do breeches, or try & get something altered. Depending on race you could always go with a gamatang (S'kra), or the ones that are out for Prydaen, Eloth & Rakash (their names escape me at the moment). Not sure if Elfs have anything.
Good Luck
Elizz has some great pants she had altered.. a pair of distressed rugged black leather pants edged with sterling silver studs
The pants are worn slightly in the seat and cuffs, the cuffs still showing vague blood splatters while scars dot the leather. The silver studs pierce the seams yet leave room for a S'kra Mur's tail, while the fly is laced with multi-colored dyed leather strips that end at the waistband. The ends of the strips bear the seals of the Sraan's XXXX and XXXX while symbols representing XXXX and XXXX are branded into the back of the waistband.

Guy, why I ended up not getting the sarong. It seemed like it would work at first over my pants, but not so much the more I thought about it. Are there any like hard plating materials that you can wear over your hips? In alot of fighting games I've played people will have some hard plating underneith their belt and around their hips or something. Dunno if anything like that exists in DR.

ooh, codpieces. They're like metal bikinis/jocks/loincloths festooned with such designs as you might see on a large beltbuckle (except that because of the location it's a lot more suggestive of what's in there). The expensively stylish and ego-strokingly flattering (read: tacky) ones did things, too, like purr, roar, or even shout phrases when manipulated.
Not sure if DR has any though any that we would have wouldn't be so amusing to behold.
J'Lo, no that other one

If DR did have it it would most likely be seen in DR TF, not DR Prime or DR Plat, well I wouldnt think plat but not sure.
I'm pretty sure a codpiece wouldnt fly in Prime & I dont think thats really what he's looking for, I know what he's talking about, I've seen some of the various heavy fighters in the SCA wear what hes looking for. Mainly on the greek fighters but for the flipping life of me I cant think of what they are called. Sr Roman officeers adapted a tunic with leather or cloth strips hanging from the bottom of it.
If your in TF or even Plat you could try for the codpiece, or maybe try a search of google for roman armor, unless someone chirps in with what the straps are called.
Codpieces werent meant really as protective pieces like a jock cup, they came about because as males clothes changed they were basically leggings that tied at the hips & soft clothes were tied around the waist so the males ahh jewels could be covered.
I used to have a great link on it, ummm, not the right one but pretty interesting, the language could be considered PG so be aware..

Ok this may be a bit corny, but something like what he's wearing on his hip.

Is the waist even something you can wear armor on, or is it just "legs" that you protect? Is there anything similar to that that's not armor?

yeah, I want to say their called tassets, I remember when I was looking at some armor quite a few years ago for SCA heavy fighting the guy called them 'tassets'. Basically they attach to the bottom of the torso armor & hang down over your hips & butt.
I still think the only one we have in DR is abdomen & leg no waist or hips, since we have healing spots for arms, hands, head, neck, back, chest, abdomen, and legs. If I remember right armor peices can be bought for the individual areas or maybe the chest/abdomen/back are all combined into one, like half plate.
Not sure what else to tell ya,

Yeah I almost bought a tasset from Crossings, but they protect abdomen and I'm still searching for leather armor that only protects chest and back. No go yet.

Goblin hooded cloaks don't cover the abdomen, but they're not exactly feasible armor either (they are cloth and cover head, neck, arms, and back). They're the only thing I know of that covers part of the torso area and not the abdomen.
I think the tassets are just relics left over from the days you could layer armor.
Another option if you are lucky enough to aquire one, is alter armor or a pair of pants to have a tasset over it.
