Ok the hard part about this is that my Character doesn't like shields.There too...bulky, obvious and well...there. But not being able to deny the use of them, I was thinking about getting one altered in a way that was unshield like. Long story short (too late?), the Alterer said no (which I can't blame them on) On the account of I was pretty much turning it into a Vambrace piece.

So... How do I get a shield to not be an obvious shield?

Here's what I started with...

a small steel shield adorned around the rim with platinum filigree changed into:

Glance/Tap: A blackened steel forearm guard with three jagged spikes.

Look: Three obsidian scorpions, set with dark bloodgem eyes have been clearly etched into the guard. Thier raised tails culminate into the jagged-edged spikes used to catch and deflect incoming attacks. The guard itself has been wrapped to fit the arm like a second skin, overlapping the armor seamlessly just below the left elbow.

And I totally didn't help you at all with that.. heh.

Honestly I don't know how to make a shield less of a shield if you can't change that word. I guess you might be able to use some obscure racial term for shield so people will have no idea what it is until they see you block with it. <shrug>
