Do favor orbs typically drain all experience from all pools upon rubbing them?
I had all of my ranked skills at least learning and my orb wiped them all and still was not fully prepared, any ideas?
I have 6 total favors, this would have been my 7th but....
This is the first time this has happened to me.
Thanks in advance.

Yes, rubbing favor orbs can bring all of your skills to clear. Each favor is more difficult than the last, so with past orbs you probably filled them before they cleared your skills. Most people never go beyond about 10 or 20 favors because it gets much much more difficult to fill them completely.

An orb will drain bits from any skill with field exp in it. Meaning if it isn't clear, the orb is going to take from it. And if you don't have enough exp waiting to be absorbed to fill the orb, you can rub yourself all the way to clear in everything. They will not, ever, under any circumstance, drain exp from skills that are not 'learning' or higher (clear skills).
Also, the orbs seem to function on a logarithmic or exponential scale, where the more you have, the more exp it takes to fill one.
And get 11+ favors. It makes you easier to raise, and will make sure anyone trying to walk you hits the auto-lockout for killing you 10 times before they actually walk you.

<<Does experience put into a favor orb leak
They do not leak; at least not from what I've seen. But if you are trying to fill more than one orb before putting them on an altar, some problems do occur. For example, say you have 2 favor orbs and fill them both without putting them on an altar. After you put the first one on the altar, the second will no longer be filled because you now have more favors and a new favor costs more exp.
<<Also, does it take from the highest mindstates first, or a flat percentage across the boards?
I believe they take a flat percentage across the board. But since it is a percentage, skills with higher mind states will be hit harder (more). So for example, mind locked might drop down to perplexing after one rub. Whereas pondering might only drop to thoughtful after a rub.

Orbs leak, but I don't think it starts right away. When they leak away to almost nothing, they start flashing and strobing and finally they explode.
They seemed to me to take experience in much the same fashion as the experience pulse converts it--top to bottom, one skill at a time (probably with "overflow" moving on to the next skill.)

Orbs do not leak. Period.

Tsk tsk! I thought they leaked too! I didn't think about requiring more experience per orb per favor until it was JUST explained that way! Geez, people! We all make mistakes! Let people post! I'm learning! --Arhia

Has it ever been explained in an IC way what favor orbs take from you?
I generally resort to something along the lines of taking your memories, but that always sounds incredibly creepy. Maybe I'm not imaginative enough, but it always irritates me that I can't think of a good way to explain it that doesn't require an immediate OOC whisper.

I get the sense that our characters don't really know what it takes from them. If you suddenly knew less about math, would you really realize that? Maybe you'd have a faint feeling that you should know something, but I doubt it would bother you.
I suppose you could also think of it as taking mental energy. As in, rather than actively contemplating how to better forage, you are turning that contemplation instead to your god. Perhaps you are even foraging, hunting, or whatnot, as part of an active meditation to your god.

i wouldn't say that our characters are unaware. Recently having taken part in a RP-ed event, the GM-NPC wasn't able to be fully rejuvenated, as no cleric was available, so he "forgot" what he was doing immediately before he died. I thought that was a very good way of describing it.
now, i'd imagine our characters would have vastly different perspectives on what exactly the gods take. For my philosopher, she has come to believe that the gods work very much like the "hunger" did - that the gods take something from your soul, in order to "feed" <that is what "powers" them. And whether one is willing to be "fed" on -- and by what --, or for what reason -- is an issue that will have to be addressed at some point. This seems to be confirmed - at least for the dark gods - by the event currently going on in therengia with dergati's altar.

>>Recently having taken part in a RP-ed event, the GM-NPC wasn't able to be fully rejuvenated
Rejuvenation (preserving one's memories before departing) is not the same as feeding exp into a favor orb.
The idea of losing memories upon death is pretty common and I think it's reasonable to represent it as an overall loss -- either of some knowledge, some actual memories, or more likely both.
However, I think it's also perfectly reasonable to conceptualize favor sacrifices as something entirely different.

>>Well you can look at favor orbs as a form of meditation to gain attention from the gods and the more you meditate less you are thinking about your more recent activities.
You know, that makes a lot of sense!
Now, it seems to me that repeatedly rubbing an orb under such circumstances is needlessly time-consuming. Other people have said the same thing.
What if one could invoke the orb similar to Prydaen favors? Or Meditate Orb, for the same effect?
