A blinding fork of lightning blasts out of the cloud above and strikes you down!
You feel like you're dying!
Was just standing around on the street in Shard, didn't notice any messaging, didn't see any note of a cloud or anything. I didn't check the weather either, but as I've never been abruptly struck by lightning and instakilled before, I didn't see any need to...
Is there some IC reason for this? Some secret policy I broke and someone is exacting revenge against me? Or is it just dumb luck and occurs from time to time? At present I'm just lying on the streets in shard.
Oh, and I may be answering this for myself - I'm in front of the WM tower - Is it just a commonly known fact that the clouds surrounding the top of this tower randomly strike people dead? Kind of a bummer at the moment since nobody has walked by in about 20m.

Thanks for the speedy reply.
I figured that it was my own fault when I realized that I had stopped to step into my thoughts in front of Stormwill tower - Didn't realize thats where I was standing at first.
now I play the waiting game as I hope this ghost town has someone who will wander by and drag me to a cleric.
thanks again.

>>There's some old story that I don't recall to explain the storm that's constantly raging over Stormwill Tower. Sucks but the random lightning there is expected and not revenge for something you did wrong.
I don't know the specifics but the long and short of it though is that long time ago WM GL bit off more than he could chew trying to control the weather and now there's a perpetual storm above the tower. I believe the Shard WM GL has to keep some kind of constant control over it.

There is indeed a story about that storm over Stormwill Tower, and a reason why the sign says not to linger there. I believe you'll find the tale either in the tower's library, or in one of the libraries of the Great Tower. :)

There's also a sign outside the tower that says something to the effect of "HEY WATCH OUT FOR LIGHTNING." I think its a pretty funny effect.
- Warrior Zealot Korsik Rippentropp, Executioner of M'riss
Baum says to Lillietta, "Problem is that Korsik is a very big boy."
Lillietta says, "He is mentally unstable."

Pretty much. I assume you mean this room
One should usually read signs, as they are usually important.

[Shard, Katamba's Crescent Road] |
Stormwill Tower, home of the Warrior Mages and Empaths of Shard, dominates much of the view to the northwest, its ominous black and grey masonry permanently overshadowed by a single dark cloud that hovers over the keep like a bad memory. Citizens of the city hurriedly get about their business here, either completely skirting the tower or running in or out with modest haste. The Bridge of Linden Leaves creates safe passage over a water channel that rushes through to the south. You also see a prominent sign staked into the ground outside the guild. |
Obvious paths: northeast, southwest. |

About a year or 2 ago when we were asked to help test things out on the test server, I was teleporting around with the jump jewelry (or however it was implemented, I forget). The spot you teleport to in shard is outside the WM/Empath tower. I jumped in and died instantly as I was struck by lightning. It was pretty funny. Good thing I could just HEALME over there.
