Sort of. Limb shots are capped at massive damage, and at some point you're destroying vitals without doing 100% vitality damage.

--It gets mentioned a lot in talk about fatigue, but I'm not sure if it also contributes to the direct increase of such or if it's strictly a direct reduction in the use of it (ie, less fatigue when swinging a weapon, less fatigue when dragging someone, etc).

--The point about barbarians is not limited to just CHOKE, more strength = more effective brawling in general.

--Strength also plays a role in swimming, basically for anti-current stuff but in effect 1 strength adds X ranks to your swimming score. Probably for climbing too, for how many feet you can move in one go on the climbing-wall stuff if not all climbables in general. Might have application in escaping activities such as breaking webs or digging mud (larger handfuls removed?), but I'm just guessing here as all/almost all talk suggests it's pure escaping skill for all escaping contests.

--Probably comes in play when rolling people down hills to get around the drag-climbing difficulty, but that's probably covered by your picking up fatties mention.

--Is a factor in forging. Dunno about other creation systems, though (and probably in the upcoming glassblowing, since you're basically blowing air through a straw).

--are there any special puzzle/quest mechs affected by strength? I can't think of any.

I belive Swimming and/or Climbing are affected, although I haven't found a very strong indicator that this is the case in my character training.

Ok, so add:
Better Swimming
Better Climbing
Better Brawling (I assume this just falls under the weapon damage category?)

Any added verbs?
Other abilities?

Swimming has a strong strength compontent. My 20 str and 150 swimming struggle to get through the middle room in the Faldesu still... when I know people who (unbonused) do it a lot lower.

I haven't noticed any extra verbs. However, as someone else pointed out, there is an ability to drag heavier loads.

Oh yes, there is a cleric spell- benediction- that seems to have a greater effect with greater strength. And pounding in the forge would have a shorter RT.

I assure you it is a strength difference, I am one of the ones Mozzik was refering to. I have a couple more agility than him, but more that 15 more strength and i can do it with just over 100 swimming.

Create tog. Go to sleep. See what your average RT is in the goblin brook. Pour all of your TDPs into strength. Watch your RT magically drop. Profit.

I seem to recall reading that there is a box dismantle that becomes available at a certain Strength level, though I couldn't tell you what it is.

Oh yes! Dismantle Crush. I love doing that with the elf just to make jaws drop!

I'm even toying with the notion of training one of my gnomes up to be able to do it just for laughs.

Out of curiosity, do you happen to know precisely what the break-point is for being able to do this as a non-Tog?

I believe 30. I know I can do it with 34 strength as a gnome.

Sure is.

1)Roll up two like-race (gnome) non-rangers. Keep one at max (4) strength, boost the other up by 1. Don't raise any other stats. Throw away or set aside all gear to rule out encumbrance factor.

2)take the max-strength character and load him up with favor orbs. Put him in sleep mode, and rub away experience so that he stays at 0 skill. Have him go swimming in the crossing goblin brook to see what sort of access he can get. He will probably only have access to the east/west rooms with no/occasional chance of getting north.

3)with your baseline set, do the same thing with the +1 strength character. At this point, with only a single point of difference between strength, I wouldn't expect any differences but be on the lookout anyways (might spot something).

4)take the +1-strengther to the strength trainer, raise one point. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until you run out of TDPs. If you need more TDPs, train other skills while avoiding swimming.

If strength does anything to the swimming skill calcs, you should see a change in ability between your two characters regardless of both having 0 ranks.

Fairly sure it's a combination of agility and reflex. I didn't think strength had anything to do with it since I haven't raised my character's strength in a long time but could start doing it after raising reflex.

Burden definitely plays a role in ferry jumping, so it seems like strength might, too.

When I stripped Lorz of almost all her gear to steal those arrows that time, she could ferry jump almost every time she tried, but rarely, rarely makes it when she has all of her armor and gear with her.

Strength : 27
Reflex : 27
Agility : 30

Make of it what you will.

I've heard that strength helps shield block. No idea if it's true or not.

Not really a rumor, that's GM confirmed. However, no one knows the formula. I assume that strength matters more for heavy shields.

I seem to recall in the past that those with enough strength could carry bodies up and down the ladders to and from beisswurms and cave bears, but I haven't seen this done in so long that I'm not sure if this is still true.

I was under the impression it was a climbing thing, but it'd certainly make sense that strength would operate in this aspect the way it does in swimming.

Nope, the RTs on that never change. That was one of the first puzzles I did as a newbie.
