Alright, when I turn Circle 27 I will have roughly 1,000 TDP.

My intentions are to purchase three spell slots.
Thoughts?

If you're gonna do it, do it early but... I echo the why.

I currently have 14 free spell slots and nothing to fill them with :(

Don't buy spell slots. Just plan your progression more carefully and blow the TDPs on stats.

If you're a Moon Mage and your goal is to some day get every spell we have AND stay ahead of Armifer's declared intention to "out-develop" our spell slots and make more spells than we can possibly learn, then go for it.

Otherwise, no.

The idea of spending TDPs to get Ball Lightning makes me want to punch a kitten.

Heh. So what is wrong with spell?

Because?

My "theory" was I could have it going while I stealth hunt and I believe it is our only spell that is cast and relax. Except for Fire Rain which has the drawback of possibly killing me, or others.

I am over 100th, and still do not have that spell. I guess its just that the spell is not actually needed to train your warrior mage efficiently in any way, shape or form.

Its more of a fancy cantrip, in my mind.

I believe most people can sum up spells in a few ways: training, efficiency, and killing power.

I don't believe ball lightning falls anywhere in there.

You forgot: Style/cool factor.

And it still fails there, IMO.

That spell slots even have TDP costs makes me cry black ichor, let alone the way they scale.

Please someone think of the newbies and put that feature in a home for wayward game design.

Since every response has been a loud resounding no. I will spend my TDPs on stats I suppose, or maybe horde until the combat changes are rolled out.

Ball Lightnin was a great spell to have during the Outcast war since stepping into the room with the Outcast posse was instant death due to multiple castings and arrows flying at you in a half second. Having said that I havent used it since.
