So you guys get where I'm coming from, I don't use any magic. No gweths, no rejuves, no raises no nothing. But I'd really like to be able to kill ghosts and such.
I'd like to see a meditation that would allow you to do a pseudo bless. Basically something that would let you be able to damage incorporeal undead, but gives no bonus to damage.
meditate <weapon> blade
You concentrate your will solely on your <weapon> and can feel a bit of your flame and self seep into the blade.
You take an IF and spirit hit but you've impregnated the blade with a bit of your own spirit, so it can touch things made of pure spirit.

I don't see abilities aimed at combatting incorporeal undead expanding beyond the clerics and paladins. It's easy enough to get weapons blessed and to keep some blessed weapons on you. It's one of those concessions you have to make if you are going to hunt non-corporeals, or to be prepared against non-corporeals.
If I see an opportunity I'll check into this, however.

That idea that was posted made me think it would be cool for Barbarians to be able to imbue/empower their weapon with a portion of their IF for any combat. I guess you could compare it with Paladin Divine Armor spell that boosts their armor stats.
While under the imbuement, the weapon could flare with some sort of flash (kinda like a bless swing) that would give an extra punch in the hit.
IMHO, since mundane weapons wouldn't appear to be able to hold such an empowerment, maybe something along the lines of a barb-only weapon (those currently in game) and possibly new weapon that had some sort of Chakrel stone embedded in the weapon to hold the IF.
Maybe that might be something more along the lines of something for a Barbarian, without stepping on Clerics' toes?

But you don't have any hair! Where are you going to put it? Don't answer that!

Gee, that sounds an awful lot like weapon enchanting. Oh, wait, that's a WM proposal. And IF is short for 'inner fire'. It's not short for 'mana'. It doesn't do the same things as 'mana'. Chakrel is not the inner fire equivalent of cambrinth, either.
If you want to be a mage so bad, why don't you reroll?
Orpheus: "You've been powering this machine with a forsaken child?"
Venture: "What? It's not like I used the whole thing."

Goodness...was just an idea
If that's gonna be something that warrior mages can do, then by all means the idea can be used there. I wasn't trying to make inner fire the equivalent to mana, and I'm sure something else can be used other than Chakrel...just using a word that was in the barb vocabulary to bring it all together. It was by no means a complete thought.
And I've played a mage before..just wasn't a guild that I liked as much as some of the other guilds I play. Either way, it was a simple, rough suggestion...if something like this has been suggested for wm enchanting, then I can't wait...Perhaps once this proposed system is actually released, it'll attract me back to the guild.

Actually, I was being overly mean. The actual details about the effects of WM enchanting have been rather sparse - the process has been described, as well as the limitations. One of the specific limitations regards increasing the attributes of the weapon - namely, that enchanting will not be able to improve a weapon beyond the maximum possible amounts that forging can accomplish. So if the cap on a scimitar is somewhere around great slice, you can never enchant a scimitar to have a slice better than great.
The other types of enchanting, which involve imbuing spell effects, haven't really been definitively described.
At last announcement, work on the Weapon Enchanting proposal is slated to begin after the end of the Great Spell Review and some familiar changes. The release of the Elemental Arcana skill will basically herald the beginning of serious work on weapon enchanting.

I'd say allowing the barb to brawl with the undead, maybe if the cleric thing changes so that anything they attack with counts as blessed, seeing as IF is aimed inward not outward it wouldn't really make sense.
Now, some sort of meditation or berserk effect where if the person was a follower of Everild, Trothfang, Kuniyo or maybe just they granted that power to the weapon so it would stay blessed until the meditation/berserk wore off...that would be nifty and also require the blade to be blessed before beginning. Though either one would probably depend on clerics expanding inherent bonuses versus undead.
