There seems to be a tightrope we are walking with meditations. Many proposed almost seem magical in their essence. To me meditations must keep the barbarian spirit of magic hatred in mind when they are incorporated into the fold of abilities. Although I like many of the ones proposed that in ways appear to take on magical qualities they are still good ideas. I for one do not want my meditations to seem/look/feel in any way shape or form like magic.
My idea of what mediations should accomplish go along these lines.

Meditate Shadows

You are in a room. You wish to tell who is in hiding. Searching does no good. You Meditate on Shadows and as you grow still your senses become amazingly sharp. Your hearing doubles and your sense of smell grows keen as your inner spirit searchs the shadows for those unknown hiders. Silently you hear the pounding of a very faint heart that tells you an elf is attempting to remain hidden. You smell the unmistakeable scent of a Gor Tog who is covered in shadow. Another part of you feels the presence of someone very near, the aura of their spirit pulsating almost inperceptibly (cleric hiding or Paladin). This could be taken a bit farther although Im not sure the other guilds would stand for it. As you grow deeper into your meditation the Chakrul amulet around your neck begins to glow with an intense light as you channel your inner fire into its very essence. The amulet's power imperceptibly brightens the shadows to reveal Player A, Player B, Player C in the shadows.........This Light would not be seen by others in the room, nor would the hiders themselves be aware that the light had illuminated them. This could not be used to point out players thus ruining their hiding place because effectively we are in a deep trance and unable to do the pointing motion, but we would in fact know who was in the room with us in a benign way. Inner fire would be used. How much I am not sure, but some for sure.
For hunting this meditation once completed would remain in effect for say 10 minutes as the amulet continues to enlighten the shadows making hiding creatures illuminated to you and no one else. You could then use slash the shadows to bring them out of hiding. In this way I see our meditations being a 3 part factor. You would need to dance, you would need to meditate and you therefore could use the appropriate roar to finish the full effect of said meditation. Not all but some of the better meditations must be used in conjunction with a dance in order to complete the mediatation. For example this meditation would be used in conjunction with Eagle. So we would dance eagle and then Mediatate Shadows. For the continued illumination we must also continue to dance eagle. The combined effects of the dance and meditation would reduce the duration of the dance by say 15 to 20 percent and therefore insure that there is a cost to meditate.

Basically I want our meditations to incorporate the entire barb spectrum of experience in order to really make having dances and roars mean something and be something that we are glad to have and would use reguarly as war mages use their magic regulary.

Not to be negative or anything, but that sounds a lot more magical than any of the proposed meditations I've read. ;)

Perhaps you are right. But the point of my post is that I would like to see our meditations incorporate all the elements of our Barbarian background. I used that Meditatiion to show how this could be accomplished. Not necessarily that this meditation was so great or awesome or needed to be installed. Thats just my two cents worth on the meditation idea. The thing that I want to stress is that I dont want the whole room to see the results of our meditation or that our meditation is so powerful that we start chanting or rolling around or raising our arms to the heavens, but that it is a private matter within ourselves, that only we can see and hear and feel.

I think that the meditation would make sense and work well with barbarians if you could only find those who were in hiding that had some sort of magical power.

Not all barbs hate magic either, at least I don't. It's just not the path for me, if something is important enough I will suffer magic cast upon myself to accomplish something in rare instances simply because I recognize I have no chance to do something and if it is important enough I can suffer through that humiliation.

Besides, we all love those magical empaths and clerics.

I think a meditation that temporarily boosts your perception to be a good idea.

I believe eagle dance boosts perception (I could be wrong). However, the meditation could be for specifically find critters or people or hidden trails (like to vipers) in hiding versus preventing pickpockets.

Of course, then again, why not prevent pickpockets? I'm not entirely sure if it should be too much like clarity, but still it sounds like a good meditation idea.

Think about it. You close your eyes, and become perfectly still. You focus your senses on the surroundings. I see it as an ability to be used at perfect stillness. Meaning, if you meditate and then juggle, move a room, etc. the meditation will wear off and you are back to your normal senses. The only verb you could use to not mess up the meditation would be search.

That's correct.

<<However, the meditation could be for specifically find critters or people or hidden trails (like to vipers) in hiding versus preventing pickpockets. >>

Perception is perception. There's no way you can find trails any faster then you can find people hidden at the same level as the trails, they both involve perception of the same kind.

Just wanted to point it out.
