Someone suggested I post this idea here:
Has there ever been a discussion to have totem animals for Barbarians? I realize that we have animal dances - but I think that giving us the chance to associate with one particular animal (Bear, Dragon, Snake, Scorpion, etc.) would be great.
As a result of having a totem, one could learn a specific dance, combat style, etc. perhaps even transform into that animal when berserking - or take one some aspect of that creature.
Ideas? Comments?

well aside from the transforming into the creature (sounds more like something a ranger would do or druids if DR had them) could be interesting. Certainly would add to variety in the barb guild.
So what animals would you add? Just the ones from the dances or others?

What animals would i like to see?
First off a bear :) Something about the power of a bear that appeals to me...
Mammoth would be good, phoenix would be interesting, walrus would be odd, but fun (Ku Ku Ka Chu).
Even though this contradicts my previous sentence, I think the totems should all be non magical creatures.

What I would like to see, is to give us a one-time choice of a totem animal. From then on out, all or some of our abilities take on some aspects of that animal. For example a barbarian with a bear totem gains 15 points of str/sta and 10 points of agi/ref from his berserk, while a panther totem gains 15 points of agi/ref and 10 points of str/sta. The same could go for dances, a bear totem would give a boost to bear dance and to the strength and stamina of wolverine and dragon, while a panther totem would boost the panther dance and the agility and reflex of wolverine and dragon.

<I'd like to see IG quests required to keep your totem powerful - looking for something from a rare type of the animal totem that you use, that sort of thing. Making the totem could also use mech lore, of course, and the totem itself could be some sort of meditative focus.

Definitely would be more fun to have a quest for them or have to make a giant totem pole ;) But I was thinking that we could make small totems that we could meditate and gain a small boost to a specic dance or possibly a small, specific skill/stat boost to all lower dances. Also, carving a totem would be like carving a talisman, where as you cannnot carve the totem you want. Instead, a totem that would reflect your skills and stats would be 'chosen' for you. The materials that are used might even have a positive or negative effect to the totem. Totems could also be used as the focal point of other meditations that have been brought up in the past.
How many nuns could a nunchuck chuck if a nunchuck could chuck nuns?
