So with another round of changes that downteak us, are we going to get anything? This room change affects us primarily, who are the ones that cant get all the loot before the janitor comes to get it now?
Us, with berserk, things just became alot less fun when it comes to getting out loot. If you are hunting anywhere near level in a swarm area, you cant just leave the room and come back in.

You don't need room descriptions to search and stow after every kill. If that's how you play I can see how that would be frustrating, but I fail to see the problem.

I can understand the frustration with that playstyle, but I have to agree. There are several warnings all over policy that tell us not to leave anything on the ground we aren't willing to loose. Personally I feel that this applies to loot as well. If the janitor came after every kill before we had fair chance to pick it up, then we'd have aan issue, but I see nothing wrong with things as they are. If TPTB choose to make it easier, great. If not they have long ago covered themselves with policy.

When its either play it safe and keep killing, or take a chance at dieing i am going to keep killing rather then loot every kill as it come. Am i overhunting? Not really, but when an area is super swarmy and my mo is overwelmed, and creatures keep coming in, stoping to loot every kill is simply not a good option.
Is this an inherent risk in berserking? Yes, but it leaves us yet again with the short straw.

If your MO is overwhelmed, go back and train it until you can dance at the room cap. I don't think its all that hard to type stance parry while you stow some boxes/gems. Big deal. And as far as this affecting barbs more than others.... how do you figure? It affects all high volume hunters the same, and WMs are higher volume hunters than barbs.

I've got to admit, I don't see any downtweak in this. I'd say this no matter the situation: pick up your stuff.

The "but I get burdened!" argument has never really been something I've bought when talking about picking up loot, especially with Barbarians. We've got the strength to deal with it and if it becomes the case that you do get burdened, you have options. Drop your fluff if you've got it (I'm guilty of this with my PC), run to the bank real quick, or whatever. There are options and it's isn't really anyone else's fault if you (generic 'you') don't like the options - they still exist.

Life is a constant exercise in opportunity cost and DR is no exception.

Gotta agree with Juulmon, this isn't a barb-only issue and there are ways to deal with it.

One thing I ask anyone that thinks looting is too hard, do you know about the stow command?

Also, I'd like to take the opportunity to pitch genie. I can skin, search, and pick up all gems/boxes/whatever I want with the press of a single button (and no it doesn't try to grab things that don't exist). Try that in stormfront...

After a kill I can search critter, skin critter, and loot a room in less time than it takes to "move into position to parry". If that 2 or 3 seconds is going to overwhelm your multi and defenses, then I submit you shouldn't be hunting there.

Why should I bother trying? I long ago wrote a simple script to do it. Not like it's too difficult if you care enough.

LOOK OTHER still works for looking at loot on the ground and dead critters, exactly like before the change.

<<Not really, but when an area is super swarmy and my mo is overwelmed, and creatures keep coming in, stoping to loot every kill is simply not a good option.

Yeah, I lose a few too - it sucks, but that's the nice part about hunting in swarmy areas. The next chance to loot a dead critter is just 5-10 seconds away.

Typically I wait until I have about 5-8 lines of scroll before I clean my room (which doesn't take long to clutter again). I've been caught by the janitor once, but it wasn't a huge loss. Losing a backpack full of boxes in a pain if you are training them, but it is better than having a burden. When I become burdened with coins and gems, that's when it's time for me to take a quick trip to town.

As a berserking barb, I have yet to see the LOOK UPDATE change to make a difference in my normal hunting routine.

Gronten, what specifically are you having trouble with?

I'd be interested in seeing how that is possible in stormfront. I'm not talking about a script that tries to stow every possible gem.

I do disagree in some regards with that statement, a large portion of our abilites...aka dances depend on not being burdened. I pick up everything in combat, and that is why I don't use dances. They suck when your burdened. So unless other guilds abilities pivot on burden as ours do, I would say it does affect barbs more than others since alot of us are dancers...completely different reason than the original poster of course.

For me it doesn't matter tho, as I am a berserker, but I do feel bad for the dancers out there.

<<I'd be interested in seeing how that is possible in stormfront. I'm not talking about a script that tries to stow every possible gem>>

The closest I have come to this in stormfront is my current cleanup script which looks at the room and matches the gems that are there...if a match is found, say "jasper" it attempts to pick up all jaspers until there is no more, than will look again etc. Last step is it just picks up all coins until no more left. Not exact, but it works well. (it also will dynamically switch stow containers if one fills up which is nice)

My only complaint here is in regards to hunting in areas with high RT access and burden. Burden is a big factor for any guild when it comes to combat. Haveing to constantly pick up loot isn't so much a bother if I could quickly run and sell the gems and deposit the coin. However, "quickly" isn't the case when you have a 65RT leaving and an 85RT returning to the area. If you're a dancer or have spells up, that's a fairly big reduction in your overall effective training time considering everything needing to be accomplished in the trip to the bank. I know this is the case in several areas, so if the RT were drastically reduced or eliminated in these areas I wouldn't have a complaint.

Am I the only one here who is generally too lazy to pick up loot? I feel highly inconvenienced just by looking at boxes in general.

I'm glad these changes went into place. I been asking for the janitor to eat everything in a given room for a long time now.

It's scary. I find myself agreeing with you more often than otherwise. I'm very glad the janitor is keeping my room clean... I stow anything I want to keep, and leave everything I don't want... it's perfect.

I've got good strength as is and even under the old drop'n'drag method of opening boxes I'd rarely take the time to gather up a full backpack, a full haversack, a full bag, etc.

I'd like to see a few changes in the loot system to be totally honest.

1. Get rid of the chump change drops. It's not worth my time at my level in my hunting area to pick up 12 copper lirums dropped by a creature.

2. Make boxes rarer but much more valuable. Find other alternatives for thieves to train lock picking. Make disarm useful outside of boxes.

3. Increase the sell value of gems. Lets face it - the economy is broken. I'd much rather see nothing drop from 10 raiders and then that 11th raider drops a diamond or ruby worth x gold or whatever.

Picking up 60 or 70 blood stones to fill a gem pouch which sells for 2-3 plat (non trader sold in Rossmans) is just annoying. Yeah I do it because its the only source of income but I'd much rather sell off a few semi-obscure gems than sell that appraiser his 4927429743289383th jasper.

Agreed, once again, though I set it up where I only pick up diamonds, rubies, sapphires, and amethysts. I don't mess with emeralds because of those stupid emerald earrings that drop occasionally.

I have to agree with Galren here. Especially on raising the value of gems, making them fewer and farther between, and eliminating coin drops. I like the amount of boxes the way they are though. Changing that would probably make it harder for non thieves to train lock/disarm.
