So... are the helms and such going to be for sale at some point, or are they there to taunt us?

speaking of leth fest - anyone buy the 100 plat shortbow in the outcast tent? to me it appraises the same as my nisha bow, except for the cost when i compare it. <no, i haven't purchased it> - i was just wondering whether the cost is strictly for the look, or if theres something i'm not seeing.

I bought it schvartz. I haven't used it yet, but it doesn't have reduced RT. It apps the same as my hidru shortbow. I am guessing its for the look though.

I did buy it. Just starting some testing as well. I am not really good with a short bow yet though. If I remember correctly when I shot during the Outcast war the archers remained hidden. If they used this bow then there might be something to that. So far all I have had time to do is fire 10 shots with both of my short bows and compare the hits. I plan on doing this several more times. So far I have seen theses results
The first numbers for Outcast short bow. The second for a Nisha.
hard hit 0-1
strong hit 0-1
heavy strike 2-1
very heavy hit 4-2
extremely heavy hit 1-1
massive strike 1-4
awesome strike 2-0
vicious strike 0-1
earth-shaking 1-0
lodging
shallow 7-4
deeply 1-3
firmly 3-1
nothing left to stick to 0-1
stuns
barely 2-1
lightly 1-3
I plan on doing this about 4 or 5 more times and compiling the results.
All this was done with the same store bought arrows. Both times let short bow pulse down to clear.

Nope.
<<Can't they just sell the roar helms to the masses?>>
Nope. The merchant doesn't wish them sold that way.

For the record I own a roar helm already, I was actually looking to trade it for a HC one as mine is neutral. But nobody wanted to trade hence the request. But as long as a GM is willing to break out Scynn and Asmara I'm not that worried. I just think it's wrong to put something out that isn't for sale. Seeing as there is not a single other HC helm for sale at the fest except for that one.

5 stones: some beaded toebones - 1250 Kronars
These small bones have been hollowed and a thin thread of sinew bearing steel and iron beads is laced through each.
10 stones: some mammoth anklebones - 1562 Kronars?
Large anklebones, no doubt those of a mammoth, have been polished to a brilliant sheen.
15 stones: some leaded fingerbones - 1875 Kronars
Each joint within the fingerbones has been carefully wrapped in a small ball of lead.
20 stones: some metal-studded ulnas - 2187 Kronars
Bronze studs have been hammered into the length of these short arm bones.
25 stones: some lead-wrapped kneecaps - 2500 Kronars
Thick lead formed into a circle around the bones contrasts darkly against their aged yellow coloring.
30 stones: some brass-tipped rib bones - 3750 Kronars
Rounded brass endcaps have been added to these weathered bones, the metal pinched securely around them.
35 stones: some petrified vertebrae - 5000 Kronars
The center of each vertebra has been filled with brass, then buffed to a glossy sheen.
40 stones: some thick femurs fitted with iron banding - 6250 Kronars
Wide iron bands have been placed at the top and bottom of each bone adding weight and balance.
45 stones: some heavy basilisk jawbones - 25000 Kronars (these may be like swords)
The dangerous fangs of the basilisk have been left intact in these bones, sheathed in etched iron to add weight.
50 stones: some bronze-inlaid pelvises - 12500 Kronars (Hmm, looks like these should be more expensive...)
These large bone structures have been carved and inset with tarnished bronze. Swirling lines of metal flow smoothly around them in perfect balance.
50 stones: some steel-capped skulls - 62500 Kronars. (Limited quantity, I believe 5 were sold)
Each of the large skulls has had a thin cap of brushed steel riveted to it and large red stones are fitted into the once hollow eyesockets.

i'm not sure if the one my barb already has is neutral or HC, but to her it appraises as HC because she knows more HC than LC. but she's keeping the one she has. she doesn't always use it though, cause it costs a hell of a lot to get fixed.

How much do these helms appraise at generally? I've been considering one for my baby barb but it will make me think twice if it costs a ton to repair.

Ouch. Thanks for the info. I'm still looking forward to the possibility of getting him a heavy chain roar helm if they start being sold again. What I'd LOVE is one of those HC faceplates.

Roar helms should not be something everyone and their grandmother can have two of... they are rare for a reason.
