There have been those of different guilds that have gone necro. Most notably Lasarhhtha of the Moon mages, and of course, both Book and Lyras were once WarMages. Even Emuin from the Cleric guild. Empaths however are said to disappear if they do so <not sure if its someONE or someTHING that makes them disappear>

At any rate, has any Bard ever gone down that Dark path?

Yeah, there was certainly some necromantic overtones to that - but as far as a Bard going so far down that path that they entirely shifted guilds? No, I don't believe so. Karovaas is very much still a Bard (If one with somewhat questionable tastes in sorcery). Medmaev would have been closer but he's dead anyhow.

I did some in-game research that involved necromancy. I didn't find any reference to any bards becoming necroes. However, there were war mage and moon mage necroes, and even a couple of empaths who were very close to necromancy. Now, there was one bard who was involved with the xylobones incident that was rather necromantish- but that is about it.
