I love this list, and I really love the explanation I got when I asked what sopranino was. I can't post it here without it getting pulled, but it was funny.

Your natural voice type is mezzo-soprano.
However it is currently set to contralto.

Based on your current skill you believe you could adjust your voice to the following:
Contralto
Alto
Mezzo-soprano
Soprano
Sopranino

(Syntax is Practice Voice RANGE.)

Anyway, this is a really great release and I think it opens a lot of doors for non-Bards who want to RP more developed singers. I also think I probably speak for several other people when I say I appreciate all the hard work you put into making this happen for our guild.

Thank you again!

I don't know if it's related, but I can no longer sing scroll songs. This is in plat.

I'd stay logged in and assist except that I'm traveling, on a hotel WIFI network and can't guarantee I'd be able to stay logged in.

You announce in a soft voice, "I will now sing 'Desert Soul', a song of remembrance when away from the desert, by Inessa D'larcy."

You feel fully attuned to the mana streams again.

(You are performing the refrain of Merelew's Legacy.)
>practice voice mezzo-soprano
You will now sing as a mezzo-soprano.
>stop sing
You stop performing the Merelew's Legacy enchante.
The cool, damp feeling to the air around you slowly fades.

You announce in a soft voice, "I will now sing 'Desert Soul', a song of remembrance when away from the desert, by Inessa D'larcy."

>sing wonder
You begin to sing "Wonder", a song by Joy Chanticleer.

What you don't see is that there is quite a bit of time between each of those attempts and I did submit a BUG report in game during the middle of that after confirming that it does work what way, or doesn't work I guess.

Saw this in the other thread, but yeah -- My bad. I forgot to update the Song Scroll system. Should be fixed now. Lemme know if you encounter any further problems.

It's already there.

Syntax: PRACTICE {sing|stretch|area|parched|voice}
>practice voice
Your natural voice type is baritone.

Based on your current skill you believe you could adjust your voice to the following:
Contrabass
Bass
Baritone
Tenor
Countertenor

(Syntax is Practice Voice RANGE.)

Now I admit it's not the most useful help, but it syncs up with the rest. I'll likely rewrite it to be more helpful when I rebuild the entire verb.

Heh, its such a small reference I completely missed it. I was expecting it in the list that follows the first line which my brain lumped together with the parser echo as meaningless. My bad.

Now that we've been given an inch, here's my request for a mile.

Could we possibly gain the ability to earn refined voice types within each category? Examples:

Bass: Basso Profundo
Baritone: Lyric Baritone, Comic Baritone
Tenor: Lyric Tenor, Dramatic Tenor
Countertenor: Castrati (technically not a countertenor, but its the closest fit in this case)
Soprano: Coloratura Soprano, Lyric Soprano, Dramatic Soprano

Not at this time, though I'm willing to entertain requests for the system (Both for new voices and for other ways to care about your voice) for some nebulous point in the future.

Not a serious suggestion I hope D:

Okay, I'll mash something up soonish to be filed in the future development folders.

Heh, it is but not in the snip-snip sense. These days Castrati parts are typically sung by boys or men who for endocrinological reasons haven't reached physical sexual maturity, not castrated men.

Fun fact: the last living true castrato was alive in the early part of the 20th century so its not as ancient a practice as many would think.

My daughter and I both sing in real life and she frequently performs musically at her college, so this is near and dear to our hearts. She inherited my mother's range and can sing from soprano down to contralto. I only sing from soprano down to alto, myself, never having been motivated to try for contralto.

My daughter, who plays a thief on one of my accounts, is miffed because her Prydaen character, who was a soprano as a bard and lost it when she became a thief, is an alto now. (Mostly because my Prydaen thief, who is her thief's younger sister, is a mezzo-soprano. She says her char will now 'hate her little sister forever'.)

What my daughter would like to KNOW is if thieves who pretend to be bards and have vocal ranks can get the PRACTICE VOICE ability. Hehehe...

She IS happy that her elven bard, who is my bard's daughter, still has a soprano range.

On another note, my elven bard dropped from a natural soprano to a natural mezzo-soprano in the change, apparently. But as she can still access soprano with practice voice, I'm not TOO upset about it. I just put her back into soprano.

Bard Lydaiva's (and others) player

(Pardon the two deleted posts. I'm having a blurred vision problem at the moment and didn't spell check very well.)

I'd say no, since there's no way that your natural voice type is going to involuntarily out you as a non-Bard unlike a handshake, etc.

Correct. Thieves will not be able to access practice voice anymore than using a warrior mage title will let you cast spells.

As for the voice changes, I apologize but for technical reasons preserving the old version during the conversion would have been a Bad Thing (mostly because one of the main reasons for the conversion was to avoid a nasty corruption issue). I figure the combination of non Bards having never had a voice type, and Bards being able to shift their voice type should be enough. Apologies if that's caused any hardship until you have the enough skill to shift back to your old range.
