I'm still lowish circle and can't get much more than minimum prep into AEWO, but I'm curious what the progression of functionality is with extra mana. Currently it doesn't matter what amount I put into it, it appears to have the same effect: immobilize one creature. According to Epedia, it only affects the critter that I am facing, meaning it never touches multiple targets? Why would I ever cast this above minimum prep?

More mana increases your chance of success. If you move up the critter ladder you might find min prep isn't sufficient to immobilize. I also believe the length of the immobilization is dependent on how badly they failed the check, so pumping more mana in can keep them held longer. This is particularly pertinent for PvP where you might not be able to overcome the stat check at min prep, but can at max.

Okay. As I said, I'm still low-ish circle, so I'll keep an eye on it. As it is currently I am in malodorous bucca and minimum mana effectively immobilizes the target perpetually. It wears off exactly as a new pulse fires, and that's how it's been against every critter I've encountered.
