Have never known much about instruments IG, but decided to try and picked up starters for percussion/wind/strings. I'm just curious if I'm imaginining something, or if, with equal play time of each instrument, percussion learns far slower. Each instrument is the easiest the shop offers... lyre, ocarina, tambourine. Is it something I'm doing wrong, or is percussion just an inherently more difficult instrument group to play?

I don't know... but me, as a bard... i'm finding percussion infinitely more difficult to lock than strings and winds.

I've recently added a couple of instrument types to what I've been training with my commoner, and percussion has been far more difficult to learn that any other.

Percussion is definitely very difficult to start with. There isn't a good easy percussion, which means beginners tend to fail a lot and thus, don't learn well.

But how about for advanced percussionists? I'm dying here!

You're preaching to the choir buddy! <grins>

But... its not so bad. Granted, I don't get everything out of it that i'd like... I still love the people. The members are what makes the bards guild so great. If I didn't pick it, i'd likely of never met such wonderful people.

I seem to rememeber some discussion about worn percussion instruments at some point. Do they exist? Are they in the works perhaps? Thanks

There is also the frottier (that's probably mispelled) from Hibarnhvidar. It's worn like a vest or coat.

This "a slender silver txistu tipped with a white onyx dragon-shaped mouthpiece" can be worn in the hair.

The txitsu that is hair worn is a wind instrument.

You can wear castanets, zills and the frottoir are the worn percussions that I know of and the txitsu and bagpipes the worn wind instruments.

We all have our moments. Most of mine like that come either from posting pre-coffee, or posting while a toddler is asking for "Mommy Lap? Mommy Lap?" (or more drink, or train DVD, or...)
