>>Yes you guys need Priest so I can get my Arcane Priest title.
What in the world is an Arcane Priest?
Or rather, why in the world would Warrior Mages get a Priest title? They aren't priests in any way, shape or form. Mind, you could play a priestly character, or someone very pro-Immortals or devoted to a particular deity, certainly. But WM guild identity has absolutely nothing to do with prophecy.

Actually it's about bringing attention to the lack of a Priest title. My friend wants the title available, it used to be available, and it seems sort of necessary if we have all these 'adjective' Priest titles. Why it gets left out seems extremely odd. All her posts seem to get ignored so I figured I'd say something to maybe get a multi-post response that's harder to ignore as perhaps the GMs only read every 3 or maybe 5 posts.

I'm sitting at about 180 swimming and don't have Swamp Shaman, but that's not surprising - I'm 30 ranks shy of the TM for garden variety Shaman anyway. Not going to venture a guess on that one.

I'm working on trying to get the title reqs updated to the web site, but at this time I can't give you timeframe. I'm not the one making these changes.
As you happen to be talking about Swamp Shaman I'll give you part of the req and let you figure out the rest.

I'm going to venture to say that the ??? in swamp shaman is 300 target. I will further say that foraging is not a hard skill to learn. If it was I wouldn't have the ranks I have. The trick is to forage something you can find at your ranks, i.e. honey comb (requires 220 ranks), then collect something easier you can also find, i.e. red roses (requires 120 I think). That locks my foraging in about 10 minutes. If I can do it, you can do it. You just need to find the equilivent for your skill level. Olwydd's site gives a compendium of items and ranks needed.
As to shadow priest I couldn't say what the reqs are there, except I'm with Aeth on the hiding, it's probably 200 for that.

Thief ones are confusing since hiding takes the place of harness tho it requires 125% are much, does hiding count again for hiding? lol
I would think swamp shaman would use the same TM as regular shaman the only difference sounds like the swamp part. But only way to find out is too have someone with tiny TM and lots of foraging and swimmin slowly up it to the point, and i doubt thats gonna happen
Fishing does move foraging pretty decent, should have no trouble achieving high learning rate as tert.

Re: New Titles on 01/06/2007 01:44 AM CST
I'm not going to complain about it because I honestly don't care, but we were told that in the case of using a title that already existed to create a new title (IE when they wanted to make Forest Wraith, but we already have Wraith), it would require that the new title had as a minimum all the requirements that the other title has.
So they couldn't make Wraith require 500 hiding/stalking and Forest Wraith require 300 hide/stalk/scout, for example again.
Which means that the hide/stalk requirement for Shadow Priest would be significantly higher than 200 hide/100 stalk.

The survival tert complaint since Jent mucked about with foraging has not been that it's hard to learn. The complaint is that it takes terts disproportionately long due to the lack of forage careful and the subsequent timers we encounter as a result of such.
I learn foraging. No, it's not hard. It just takes way too long for a tert survival to lock.

Do not worry. Survival primaries think it takes a ludicrously long time to mind lock as well, and many of us refuse to train it because it is a waste of time that could be spent on mind locking more useful skills.

Not that I don't agree with you, but terts have it way worse. I can't really understand why clerics can't attempt forage careful. Precise maybe, but not careful...

Re: New Titles on 01/07/2007 08:34 PM CST
You're kidding right? It takes me 10 minutes to lock magic. Why not work foraging? Personally, I hear everyone complain about how hard it is, yet I worked them all to over 200. Yeah, it was a lot of damn work, but in the end, the tdps I got made it well worth the effort. I watch all of you backtraining weapons! Now that's a big waste of time! I tried it, took 20-30 minutes to lock anything and was constant work for something that it is worthless. I only need one weapon to hunt. But you know in a crunch it's really nice to find that jadice flower or hulnik grass I need without having to either buy it or steal it. What about swimming? I sure as heck don't drown, and climbing, if need be I can get away or get to a place I want to be. I have never understood why so many in our guild won't work survivals. There are way to many benefits to knowing the skills than not knowing. I don't have to tip anyone to open my boxes, I rarely ever get robbed and if I do, it's someone who is extremely skilled at what they do. I can skin whatever I hunt and make a little extra coin or in the least get more TDPS! Hiding and stalking, well, it's just fun.
Also, let's not forget, for those of you who care, you need 230 in 6 different survivals skills for 150th. Evasion, perception and first aid are pretty much a given, but what are you going to do about those other 3?

well the TM part of swamp shaman must be well over 300 or else hiding and stalking dont replace it for thieves
I just got 150 foraging and still dont have it
can ya at least give us some kinda idea what skill replaces it, kinda silly that i have to just guess and train every single possible skill for a title :(

Tish more power to you. Really, you enjoy foraging and the rest of survivals and have made it your area of expertise. I applaud you for developing your character in a way you enjoy.
That being said...I am not sure of any skill that I train that takes me that long to ML. Perception from juggling- maybe- probably not- I am thinking 5 minutes- I never measure. My top survivals: Evasion, Skinning, Climbing, Hiding, First Aid, Perception. Stalking will probably pass FA eventually. Perception I work harder now. Climbing I can lock in less than a minute in places I train it. Skinning just happens. Hiding is absurdly easy to train as a tert skill with PS. I train Escaping because I like it, but its still really low, though it is higher than swimming.
I don't train Swimming because I don't like it, and it has developed into something of a character issue for Flavius. Same thing with locks and disarm.
I try to focus on combat areas where I can train all my weapons- I never 'backtrain' weapons- but most places I can lock weapons fast enough if there is just enough generation. Slowest for me is MO, but I am gritting my teeth and working MO harder now- that sometimes takes 10 minutes for me, but I am seeing the consequences already of MO being lower than evasion.
The only reason that I commented at all, was that your comment about foraging being so easy- while true- is that i consider the opportunity cost of those 10 minutes as time I could have locked up multiple skills that I actually like to train

Re: New Titles on 01/08/2007 12:52 AM CST
Based on my experiences, even with optimal training foraging should take about as long as juggling does (about six minutes in a tertiary pool where I'm at, about 10 for Perception with a secondary pool and a little less for foraging). The only difference will be primary Survival pools because they'll have ways to lock Perception considerably faster.

I agree with Tish that foraging isn't really that hard to train, I think I mostly like to gripe about it because it was SO easy to lock under alternate exp. that being said, I have started training foraging again after being bitter, and it is a pain in my bum but I get it done.
