Just means you are limited by consent rules. As Shadow pointed out, that doesn't mean that you can't engage them in debate, or otherwise try to convert them, as long as it doesn't become harrassment.
I can think of all sorts of things a cleric could do to a Necromancer without breaking the rules, if you want to be a jerk about it, or you are consistantly hard core anti-Necro.
And yes, I agree- clerics are holy mages- who like to whack things with sharp objects.

Hm. See, I've got a somewhat different view there. I'd hazard a guess that a lot of necros are guarded because they want to train high enough to actually participate in pvp/events, without worrying that some random person a 100 odd circles above them is going to be like "UR NECRO. DURP DURP ME KILL".
(It's sad but that basically sums up most of the "RP" I've seen from necro hunters. Future necro hunters should look to Szrael and Ventuul for a good example of how to do it right.)
Something a lot of people don't seem to get is that in an ideal situation PVP should be fun for BOTH parties, not just some person way out of their league one-shotting them.
That's just my personal view on it of course.

Actually that is what I was trying to suggest in my own post.
In conflict, heck in plenty of stuff there can only be one first place finisher.
However if you make it fun, or at least not an overwhelming downer (like oh I just had a ton of skills worked up to mindlock and you killed me, one shot dead, down: most people won't see that as fun).
You throw some speeches (use a seriously weak weapon, especially if you know your Seriously overpower them), and give them a chance to run away, despite being bloody and bruised. You might just see more people willing to get into Character vs. Character fights.
For Instance, Clout can be done by thieves, certainly it sucks for the recipient (but nothing like dying); Mazrian using the Tingle spell on that Trader (definitely annoying, and maybe overdone on what Mazrian charged [but I don't run a HLC]) On the opposite of this you have someone like Ciressa, trying to roleplay and give a service to the new comers of the adventuring community, especially in Riverhaven, and she was killed (You can read about it in the Places Folder, Subfolder Therengia). That to me just shows part of the annoyance, she was trying to retire for the time, and then death, and all the time to take care of a death (which isn't huge but can take a bit of time, definitely if you weren't expecting it).
I am ending this with (and I don't know the spell or abilities of Clerics), but it might be cool if they had some magical restraint spell, where they basically could teach, torture, get confessions from unwilling targets (of course it would be a contested ability).
Heck maybe those Ancestor Spirits could hold the person, and try to worm their way into the soul/spirit of the target (mostly fluffy messaging), and allow for some of this stuff.

All of this is purely theoretical for me- Flavius hasn't recognized any necromancers yet- though I have figured out a couple. I haven't even taken Flavius to the Crossing yet for Necro hunting fun.
Anyway, I figure a Necromancer who is guarded is guarded for the same reasons every one else is that is guarded. Of course I never check anyone's profile anyway.
