Though OM orbs gives us great advantages/assistance with certain things, is it possible in the future to look toward something sustainable and similar to a familiar, guardian spirit, construct or shadowling that we can use specifically for assistance with corporal offensive attacks or magical defenses that we could conjure or summon?

I ask about this every once in a while and I'm overdue. Lately I been sighing more when I see Necros (yeah the brand new guild) with their zombies who can be sent after folks. Would be nice to be able to do the say to them or send something after their zombies.

My magically summoned critter can beat up your magically summoned critter.

Thanks for listening.

Clerics are designed to be very formidable opponents to Necromancers (I believe the GMs have more or less suggested that if all the skills are essentially the same the battle should tend toward the Clerics winning). [Aside: It might be more logical to say that Necromancers were designed to have faults that the already made Clerics could easily use to their advantage].

At the same time, Necromancers are supposed to have the TOP of the line combat 'pets'. That is their speciality, and no guild is going to top that.

That being said, I believe there were attempts at making a Guild related 'pet', for all the Guilds. The initial description of the Cleric Guild way back in 1996 suggests that Clerics were to be able to summon some type of Ancestral Spirit to help them with their deeds (i.e. Suggest away, just try to remember it will be more likely to come to fruitation if the 'pet' doesn't usurp the Combat King that the Necromancer's pets are to occupy).

Necro PvP stance: Guarded

Mmm, yeah...I suppose in truth it doesn't matter since I can't get too formidable without catching an earful of "necromancers have a right to be here too".

Don't mind me. I just get a little jaded as I stand there watching known necromancers train the same thing over and over and over...And I really can't lift an RPing finger to do to them what a true cleric should be doing.

Its called role-playing. And if they are in town, you can accuse them to the guards (as opposed to thieves who shouldn't/can't report them to the guards [and don't have another option currently).

What I mean by roleplaying is talk to them, lecture them, try to get them to either run (which is an actually role-playing avenue, or confront you [they may ignore you, which yes that means that you have no by policy reason to go after them, and I'd suggest that you may be able to find another Necromancer to teach/preach/scorn/purge).

If you can get enough perception there are frequent gwethings that a Zombie is at the Northeast Gate of Crossing and typically that suggests that a Necromancer is hiding nearby. Attack the Zombie, and talk out the Abomination's master.

[(I have two assides)
As an aside 1, I see Clerics as more of the Holy Mages (not that mages can lay the smack down, just see it more of a spell thing.), while the Paladins are the Holy Warriors (and yes, getting close in the current combat system against survival primes is troublesome I understand).
As aside 2, it would be cooler (from my POV) that confrontations could end in a draw of sorts (no deaths, minor wounds), without deaths (might be asking for a bit there).

Trust me, if I come in on a suspected (by my character) necro...she says hello, then asks if they need help getting favors and lets them know the Baron's policies regarding necromancy and finally offers them escort out of the province if they think they need it. Even gone so far as to give a quick lecture on the gods while standing next to them. I've also stood over them commenting on their skinning techniques, the arrangement of their foraging piles, etc to give them the heads up in an RP way that my character's got eyes on them and is waiting for them to trip up and cast that one bad spell or cut up that one critter in front of her. So long as they engage in RP conversation, I'm having a good time with it all and my character's isn't feeling overly helpless.

It's when I'm standing there trying to engage someone (who's out in the open training) in RP for several minutes with no response that I get bothered. So yeah, I contemplate cluttering up the room so they can't forage, skinning their critters for them, watching them so they can't hide. Eventually I move on, because it's all a person can do :O

Not wanting to sound like I'm coming down on everyone because for the most part, the young necros I've encountered are RP'd well. It's a tough guild to be a part of for certain. I know I wouldn't have the patience for it :P

Strong theoritcal, IF I ever roll up a Necromancer to Roleplay, he will be definitely played very seldomly, because watching your back all the time, isn't fun to me. It seems to be part of the guild.

I think that sounds like your doing a good job with trying to roleplay with them.

Keep it up.
