The results of Commune sense tell you whether you currently have a commune in effect.

>You are not a vessel for the gods at present.

And it will tell you whether you can activate another commune:

>You are eager to better understand your relationship with the Immortals.

There is a base timer on how often you can activate communes, which is determined by your theurgy skill and the commune you used. Merauds, for example, takes a long time to allow me to do any other communes; eluned's dirt, however, often tells me I can perform another commune before the RT for doing it is even over.

I believe, what you wanted to do, was just type 'commune', not 'commune sense'; com will check your devotion level, commune sense will check your active communes and timers etc.
