Yeah, I wrote off people's concerns about the ease burden thing, then the very next day managed to shock myself with it in the middle of combat. Let me tell you, it was awesome being down and stunned for like two minutes.

It would be nice if, like the attack commands, Empaths had to specify and/or target an offesnsive spell in order to cast it at something.

You see the "you are prepping energy bolt right now" messaging regardless of if you're snap casting or not so yes it's a reading comprehension issue.

Seriously highlight it if it's a huge problem for you.

I am guessing you either don't type fast, or don't have a type ahead line, or you're just being obtuse for the sake of an argument.

Sure, you might see it. Assuming you even read your spell messaging at this point. And if you type really fast, cast is going to be typed in and entered before your eyes read the whole Prepping energy bolt over ease burden thing. Highlighting it isn't going to save you if you're snap casting.

I'm not sure if you can forget the spell in throne. If you give it a shot, please let me know how that works out or if the system automagically teaches it to you again.

What amazes me more is the player indicating they are 50th circle and assumed the shortcut. This player has posted before so is aware of the boards. The spells have been talked about in the Boards in various places and is IG if you pay attention. Energy Bolt in particular has been with us for quite a while now. The OP didn't just fall off the turnip cart. The OP also didn't say it resulted in shock, just that they "assumed" the shorcut for the spell and that Ease Burden should therefore be changed so no one will assume the wrong short cut and get shocked.

Unless the OP would have one-shot a kill there would be a 60-80 second stun and 3 maybe 4 hours of playing time of active shock.

Must we, as Empaths, be protected from our player's actions for everything?

I just did the same thing...cast Energy bolt instead of well, ease burden. I know that ease was the proper way, but in my head, it just made sense. I take full responsibility for what I did, although I'm still upset..at myself.

It would be nice to have some sort of pre-warnning for a spell like this. I barely look at what spell I'm prepping, espeically when in combat and trying to ease my burden so I can start dodging again.

Since I've never experienced shock before, other than sharing, how long can I expect to be unable to heal others?

I have the all the prep messaging squelched, heh, that's my excuse.

Unless you actually managed to do a lot of damage to the creature the shock shouldn't last more than three or four hours of logged in time. It's not really a big deal.

First time shock with an EB cast should run active without sharing for just over 3 hours of playing time. I've yet to have a single cast last more than 4 hours.

This presumes of course you didn't one-shot kill it.

Just came back after a few years off and about. When i first logged in, and not sure what i did but i got a nice big highlight about these new spells and it explained that I could get shock and to use ease burden i use (EASE) and to use energy bolt, its (EB) and i could get shock from EB.

So there is a nice warning to us puffy types. But yes, im gona bet after several months of not using these spells I'll forget and just prep EB for ease burden :(
