No luck manipulating the GS at this time. It tends to just give your concentration a fairly large hit, with no success. Not sure if anything is planned for the future or not.

Here is a list of verbs I have been able to use with guardian spirits.
If anyone wants to add to the list That would be great.
Hug.
Pet
Poke (whispers to you the time it will be around)
Also, as far as attacking goes, I succesfully got my dernil to engage (accidently mind you), but it didn't attack, just advanced and retreated. Level 20, 10 charisma.
Iaceo.

A leafy forest woodwisp reminds you that you can ask her about: NAME, GUARD, STOP, LEAVE, QUIET, and TIME. "If you're too preoccupied by combat to ask me to guard, you can summon me instead (though that only works if we're in the same area!). Also, you can poke me for the time!"
Each GS of course reacts a little differently:
PET - You pet your forest woodwisp on the head, but end up with a thorn! Ouch!
RUB - You rub some of the dry leaves on your forest woodwisp, trying to flatten them down while avoiding the thorns.
HUG - You gingerly hug your forest woodwisp with a weak show of affection. Since the alternative would be arms full of thorns, that'll have to do.
PET - You pet your alfar avenger, making it glance around the area in obvious embarassment.
RUB - You gently rub your alfar avenger behind her ears.
HUG - You give your alfar avenger a hug, clearly making her feel self-conscious.
PET - You pet your fungus colepexy as it playfully flutters close to you.
RUB - You smooth out some oily spots on your fungus colepexy's ladybird-like shell.
HUG - You reach out to hug your fungus colepexy, but she flutters back out of reach with a giggle.
PET - Your dog-faced dirnel pants with glee as you pet him on the head.
RUB - You slick back the fur on your dog-faced dirnel's head. He kicks his leg out to the side in approval.
HUG - You hug your dog-faced dirnel, letting him lick your face affectionately.
PET - You pet your alfar guardian, making it glance around the area in obvious embarassment.
RUB - You gently rub your alfar guardian behind her ears.
HUG - You move to hug your alfar guardian, but she holds her spine-covered shield up defensively until you decide to back off.
And I wasn't near water to get the narmorbreath messaging, but there ya go.

PET - You cheerfully pet your bulbous-eyed narmorbreth on the head, though the thick coating of clear slime now covering your hand makes you wonder how wise it was.
RUB - You rub your bulbous-eyed narmorbreth's slick, slimey scales. She seems unappreciative until it makes a happy gurgling noise, a large oily bubble forming on its nose.
HUG - You wrap your arms around your bulbous-eyed narmorbreth, getting completely slimey in the process. The bulbous-eyed narmorbreth gets a really uncomfortable look on her face.
