Now I never had one die on me yet (knocks on wood) but is there any way we can tell if one is close to death or hurt at all?

Have you tried appraising it? Looking at it? I don't have one myself, but if it's like any other critter the appraisal and look will tell you both of those things.

Still haven't caught it with any wounds, yet! We had a very nice discussion about them and the other guardians at tea night today with Ogoh and Nuark! Thank you Empath Tea Nights, I lovers you!

I use the "perc health" method. It isn't great - but at least it lets me know if my GS has low vitality. Hopefully that will help you out until something else gets put in place.

Gotcha guys, thanks. You know what else I learned.. you can cast SOP on your guardian! gasp Geez I felt slow when the tea night attendees told me that.
I am still wondering if and what the other guardians will be inspired to come up with as for new tricks.

Around how much PM/charisma does GS become "useable"?

It's circle based with charisma as a moderate modifyer. Magic ranks/spell power only effects the duration. I don't know how it scales though.

Id say as soon as you get GS it could be used with ship rats and louts and such, might be below your hunting 'level' since the earliest circle you could get a GS would be 7th(?) 5th circle for SOP, 6th circle for Innocence, and 7th for GS.

In theory 7th BUT the bug is still in there and you can't get SOP until 6th so that pushes it back to 9th currently.

I play primarily in Plat. I normally tag it that way. Sorry, forgot to on that post. I thought it was systemic to all 3 instances though because it was in the base code. Are Plat and TF running differently for circling?

No, in practice. You don't have to actually choose a spell each circle that a new spell slot becomes available. In theory, you could probably even learn most of our spells at first circle, given enough time to gain TDPs and enough money to pay for the slots.

Granted, you'd probably be the biggest fool in the guild for doing so but it'd still be possible.

I'll concede that point to you Lofton. Yes, if you skip choosing anything at 5th and wait to choose your spells you can achieve the results at 7th as Sete's player noted even with the bug there. I took what was posted at face value when he said choosing SOP at 5th which is the natural tendency - you get a slot open you choose a spell.

Anyone have the answer to whether the bug is also in Prime? If not I'll roll up a new Empath to check.

The "bug" is that instead of 'greater than or equal to' the code has a 'greater than' in it. Minor issue yes but it means you have to circle to 6th for SOP to show up as an available spell or to be able to choose it.
