According to JLo's website i should be able to manipulate a Hara Boar.

I have Primary Magic: 269 05% perplexed Harness Ability: 276 97% very muddled
When i tried this happen.
The heggarangi boar closes to pole weapon range on you!

mostly... you're relying on a skill calculator instead of concentration, which is what is used up when you manipulate. the stats that you use to increase your concentration is what you need to train, not magic. Manipulating uses up a set amount of initial concentration to establish, then a "maintenance fee" to continue manipulating it so it doesn't turn on you when it kills the creature

I'm a lil lost. On the list it says 83 concentration to beable to make the link. I have 183.

It's not just a simple concentration check. Modifiers (see the Factors link at the top of the List site for a tentative list, but a decided lack of feedback regarding them leaves me with little idea how accurate it might be) apply, and those probably pushed you beyond your 183 concentration (the final check is made against max concentration to see if it's possible, then current conc to see if you pulled it off or tired out).

a lot of the lack of feedback J'Lo is that a lot of it is PAFO... not for the sake of in game puzzles, but for the sake of there are so many different variables that you just need to develop your own style. For instance, casting a spell reduces concentration, so does gwething, manipulating, and a few other things that I can't think of off the top of my head. Concentration comes back pretty quickly, but even having one manipulation link can nix your effective gain if the beast is high enough, at which point everything you do reduces it just a little more until the link breaks

Go touch the painting in the p5 guild, it gives you a pretty good idea of what your level is. Other than that I can almost always assume that if something is going to take more than 50% of my conc for the initial manipulate I'll most likely fail.

In the hallway there's a picture that you touch that will show you with an animal approaching at the level you should be able to manipulate. If you know manipulate it will change to a scene of you staring at the creature and it turning away or something, if you don't know manipulate it will switch to a scene of you getting attacked.
