Beth! Best Buy is having a sale on office chairs! I got mine for $80! Same one as last time...we'll see if the "metal" base rips (yes, it ripped) apart this time.
Hope you can find one too Miki...we all need comfy chairs for the amount of time we spend in front of the computer...hehe

Oh I got a new office chair for my birthday, since my mom went to sit in mine and fell over on the floor screaming, LOL. Its pretty nice, leather, recline, and a sturdy metal base that I can't break from leaning back too far..YAY

They are breakable. Just have to put some effort into it. Like diving onto your boyfriend/hubby. A guy working at my office has one like that and someone messed with him by jerking the back of the chair back and that someone put a little too much weight on it.

I've had good experiences with OfficeMax/OfficeDepot (can't remember exactly where this one came from as it too was a birthday gift) with their secretary-type chairs. This thing's sturdier than a rock, but I have two semi-complaints:
1)the screws holding the legs and arms on poke through the stuffing
2)the fabric (and thus, the stuffing) wore out after a year so now I'm basically sitting on a lightly-padded piece of wood.

I got my daughter a new one for $29.99 at Staples. It was a floor model, but it was this green microsuede type material, and it's pretty nice. We'll see how long it lasts. She's hell on chairs.

Mine is from Staples, and while it's not terribly comfortable, it has lasted about 7 years at this point. And Hodierna knows, I spend a lot of time in it.

Office chairs are like sunglasses. The good ones get lost or broken sooo easily, but get that el-cheapo from Walgreens and you can't get rid of the darned things!
Not to say your office chair is cheap, but it's hard to find a good combination of inexpensive and comfortable AND one that will last you a while.
