Well after havin some barbarian attack another empath i was with, and not currently having Nissa's binding or guardian spirit, i felt a little i'll equiped to handle the situation. So here's a horribly un-empathetic suggestion cackles.

What you see/do:

Give wounds <attacker>

You grip <attacker> and feel your body release the damage sustained to it upon <attacker>

takes a bit of time depending on your trans

You hear your mind screaming as your wounds flood to <attacker>. After a second that seems like an eternity, you step back and realize that it is <attacker> who is screaming.

add a dash of empathic shock
You collapse to the ground feeling that you have done a terrible thing.

Health
You are completely exhausted
You have no significant injuries

************************************

What the attacker sees:

<empath under attack> reaches out and touches you.
You feel your body, right down to your very soul, being racked by waves of pain. You try to break free of <empath's> grip to no avail. You look into <empath's> eye's and for a second you swear that it is Asketi herself staring back at you.

Stunned

Health:
Oh boy is he/she messed up.

***********************************************

What other people see

<empath> reaches out and grabs <attacker>

<attacker> begins to thrash and scream, trying to tear away from <empath's> grip.

<empath> collapses to the ground with a hollow look on their face.
<attacker> stumbles backwards, with a shocked look on their face.

Or something along those lines. Could even be a spell... IWG (internal wound giving) heh. Of course this act would not be without cost. I imagine the cost would be very high. Don't know if this has been suggested before, and i'm sure it is out of the question. Just throwing it out there as food for thought.

While I doubt my empath would ever use that ability, I can really see the use in it. Some empaths would really love this.

Would need to be careful of consent issues, etc., but the concept is certainly interesting.

umm no, Empaths can do no direct harm, giving someone wounds, causes harm.

Not gona happen.

Maybe one day soon the justice system will incorporate empath champions, until that time..

Spells that can incapaciate without doing harm such as EM and Nissa's Binding seem to be where we need a bit of development.

Zactly. See tha reason a this is tha we feel any harm we cause. An me know it stink Purehand, but tha tha trade off we makes.

There many a time me wanderin round an someone talkin ta me an me think "hrm, would really like ta bludgeon this gurl over tha head an see if her eyes pop out".

Now, tha thought fine, but if me were ta do it, me own eyes might pop out from tha pain. At tha very least me have a stunnin headache fer a bit, an lose me sensitivity.

Damn trade off.

There was chitterin talk while back about a more powerful link. Me give ya a nutshell version as me seen it happenin. Ya use this link on tha attacker an victim. Any offensive harm would be felt by tha attacker. So either they feel pukey an don wanna attack, or they feel tha pain an get tha wounds their blows cause. Stronger tha empath is, tha longer can keep this up.

Till then a good raise power should suck tha battle prowess outta tha moron. In me opinion, ya can use this wherever ya would wanna use Nissa's. Well yah, cept fer Nissa's real purpose heh...

Its far time to break the Empath's out of the "OMG I cant harm you, OMG OMG OMG" role.

Its been beaten to death, and quite frankly is leaving the Empath Guild with no real direction or purpose.

Break free. I'm more then positive Maelona would listen to well thought out arguments for it. (And probably consider them as well)

Who still cant think of any new spells/abilities for Empaths cause..well.. they just heal (frown)

Now I've long been a proponent of "OMG I cant harm you, OMG OMG OMG" (though never in those exact words) but I kind of feel inclined to agree.

I don't however think there should be any harming without significant penalties.

Perhaps, for example, when using 'give wounds' every wound you give comes back to you two fold, possibly killing you, and ya get shock. This maintains the 'feel all the harm you do' rule, while still adding the option to do damage if you want.

I mean if mechanics really fully supported "Empaths can't do Harm" (Also known as "OMG I cant harm you, OMG OMG OMG") then we wouldn't be able to use attack commands.

Now, do I want the Empath team focusing on making this 'give wounds' idea a reality? No. I'd rather they worked on something I see as useful. But I don't think it hurt for it to be an idea that maybe makes it onto the list somewhere.

Hmm. Okay, how about this: reject wound

Obviously if someone or something is attacking you, they are trying to give you wounds. Reject wound is just saying, No thanks, and handing them back.

So if that slice would've put a deep cut in your right arm, with this spell or ability up, that deep cut would bounce right off of you and back onto the person/critter that dealt it.

The Empath isn't technically causing the wounds, the attacker is.

That'd work in theory.... but if you cast the spell you know harm will be done.... It'd be a pretty heavy judgement call.
