I dropped my greatsword, but only my right hand was bleeding. on 07/25/2004 12:08 AM CDT

HI!

Dang, this is a first for me. The empath boards.. Here is my issue. A few months ago I was running to a healer through polos with a tended bleeder of my right hand. RUNNING FAST! My bandages let go and I dropped my greatsword. By the time I got back to it in that maze, the janitor had eaten it. A forged Kertig one at that.

My problem is, my left hand was uninjured. A greatsword is a 2 handed weapon. You cannot hold something in your left hand and parry or attack with it. So why did I drop it when it was in BOTH hands? A tended bleeder in my left hand that lets go does not cause me to drop it. So why the right hand?

If it was a limitation of the old game engine, can it be fixed in DR2? Should it? I think yes, but then I am a Two-handed edge primary barbarian. Any and all comments would be greatly appreciated.

Sheeesh, a forged Kertig greatsword? Yeah, I'd be upset if I'd lost one of those, too.

But even though it is a two-handed weapon, it still shows up as being held in the right hand when you glance at yourself, or even look in the "what hand is holding what" graphic controls (or whatever equivalent Stormfront has). So when the right hand is caused to let go of something due to game mechanics, the two-handed weapon will still drop, even though it is, by definition, held in both hands.

I think the problem with this one is due to the code regarding how two-handed weapons are held and wielded rather than the healing system, Madgar.

I asked about it of the weapons GM's and was told to post here because it is a healing system issue. I hope now with dr2 it can be fixed. Or as a part of dual wield.

That's funny, because my first instinct was to suggest talking to Weapon people about getting two-handed weapons to check both hands.

I think from the healing systems end there's nothing that's really broken. The weapon shows up in your right hand, as far as the mechanics are concerned, and so when your right hand sees to drop its contents it would drop the sword.

Of course... if we could get rid of the whole stupid dropping things/falling over when wounds unwrap that'd be really nice too. I mean are a couple bandages really making it possible to hold things/stand up?

Here, how 'bout this for a thought....If it's a TWO HANDED weapon it takes TWO HANDS to hold up. If you don't have BOTH HANDS working properly and only one is working properly and able to hold the weapon....WHAMMO, ya drop it! gee...go figure.

Gortday

I just died a senseless death, I'm pissed.

By that logic one would not be able to hold anything else while holding a 2-handed weapon which is not how it is. You cannot attack with a 2-handed weapon while holding anything else but you can hold things.

You are holding a bastard sword in your right hand and a snifter of Rissan brandy in your left hand.
appr my sword

It is a two-handed edged type weapon.

I have carried a greatsword in each hand. So it really only takes one hand. And I was running through a danger area with my primary weapon out ready to attack! I tend to hold things tighter when I am going to use them. Tighter with EACH hand.

I wonder why some sort of weapon strap that ties weapon to arm can't be devised for when you have an arm or hand injury.

Duel wielding will help, too.
