Maybe this is one of the reasons I'm horrible at PVP. I use LC. I like LC. When I train stealth I either go without armor, or use dazzle. The idea of training up my leather to match what I have in LC is more then I care to think about. Other moon mages I know that have the leather skill that matches my LC skill don't seem to do as well at melee as I do. Maybe CoL changes all that, but that's a new spell.
Don't make me change everything (or even drasticlly change one thing) about how I play because of some new spell.

In the most direct sense, CoL does nothing but benefit the caster. While its effect is easier to observe with less armor, it protects you for the same amount whether you're wearing a metal ensemble or your birthday suit. You may also choose to ignore the spell and continue to enjoy the protection you've always had.
In a more abstract sense, CoL and the stealth hindrance changes help to crack the notion that LC is the one and only correct choice for Moon Mage armor. If you are happy with your choice then there is no reason to change how you play, but these changes serve to highlight that there are other options that may appeal to players with different priorities on the Stealth / Evasion / Armor spectrum.

The stealth hinderance change is the real culprit as far as the "you can't play that way any more" slap in the face goes. CoL actually helps to soften the blow of using less protective armor to accomodate this.
Hang on for about a week and I'll toss on the full chain blanket, field test it and report my impressions compared to lighter or no armor for stealth, protection and overall hunting viability.

Do not get me wrong. I'm happy for new players, or players just starting a moon mage.
I've been playing Farluk for years. YEARS.
You come along and make a statement about how you would play a moon mage in cloth and that stealth is premium.
I'm ok with that too.

I'm sorry, but for me it is. I don't know if I can stand that many years of backtraining a different armor.

Just toss on tanned leather accessories, I've done the same thing in reverse to backtrain LC and I'm at like 135 now with no noticeable effect on stealth or defense. This is assuming you want to learn leather, if not then LC is still great armor. I tend to use every ounce of stealth I can squeeze out of my character, so I might even switch to cloth if tanned comes out/is good. Unfortunately, using the accessories method to backtrain cloth gets my hands and head cut up too much, which is irritating for juggling/hiding/stalking and thus counterproductive to the overall stealth goal.

I'm apparently not communicating clearly.
That's great. LC is a viable option and it will not stop being a viable option. Just because there are now other clearly viable options as well does not mean you need to embrace them unless you choose to.
If LC is the one, true armor type for you, then go nuts. Work on making other armor types appealing for different reasons should then not dissuade you from it.

I'm not upset.
Just don't discount the years I've put into LC just because we have a wonderful new spell.
Look, if this were some other game I couldn't even train anything above cloth. When I started playing, LC was the best overall armor for moon mages. I've put years of training into LC. Would I like the ability to have protection and be able to hide? You betcha!!! Do I want to spend years backtraining cloth or bone armor (also new to the game). No thanks. Do I feel betrayed by the introduction of these wonferful new armors and spells? No.
Do I like it when someone acts like I made a bad choice all those years ago, and that I'd be better served with the new armors and new spells?
Not really.

This is also an issue.
Perhaps when stealth and perception hindrance caused by wounds is re-evaluated to make sense I'll consider switching to leather or cloth, since backtraining it wouldn't quite be as painful under the new models.

I think you're taking comments the wrong way. I understand not wanting to backtrain, but... don't be so defensive.

This is long overdue. Oh noes, my leg is bruised now I can't hide. And yet I can still evade with almost no penalty.

All of this assumes that you are only going to use one kind of armor for all combat situations. In fact, depending on the attack being made most of the time by a given critter, you should optimize protection by changing the armor type you use. Also, occasionally, stealth is not the best defense to apply for a given type of attack or defense.

Ugh, how I did mine which isn't saying much seeings I am very weak when it comes to combats but I got my stealth skills like hiding stalking and le really high as le is my main weapon got all that high an figured I could just hide and kill when I needed and not really worry to much about being face to face to something but later I found out that I should train my other skills so I am working on that. But all in all even though that minor problem training only my stalking, hiding and le I still do very well in combat and again I have to say this SLS is my bestie friend!
