Re: Visions Meeting on 04/25/2014 11:43 PM CDT
Greetings!
There were a fair few new visions to discuss tonight, here is the record!
[18:08] Miskton says, "Okay, I think we can get started. Thank you all for coming."
[18:08] Miskton says, "There's quite a bit to discuss this evening, and I've been thinking about how to best sort out the discussion."
[18:09] Miskton says, "I think to start... I'll open with a vision that seems like it may follow on another one that has been seen in the recent past."
[18:09] Miskton asks, "Do people remember the vision of the Elothean, fighting a horde of faceless foes, who was then struck, vanished in shadow, and reappeared with crows on either shoulder?"
[18:09] Traim says, "Yes."
[18:10] Miskton says, "Well, I've recently started seeing this..."
[18:10] Miskton says, "I found myself soaring through the air, a crow accompanying me on each side. The wind tugged at my clothing as a sense of freedom filled me. I heard a cry to the left causing me to look towards the crow on that side. Crimson dribbled from its peppered brown feathers as its flight grew increasingly erratic."
[18:10] Miskton says, "It fell in silence."
[18:11] Miskton says, "I should note that all of these visions are things I've started seeing quite recently, so I haven't had a great deal of time to ponder any of them... and this one in particular, we still had trouble coming to a conclusion about the previous vision."
[18:12] Redeth quietly says, "A flying Elothean. That would be something to see."
[18:12] Traim says, "Brown feathers on a crow..."
[18:12] Redeth quietly asks, "Why would they be flying with the crow?"
[18:13] Miskton says, "For the same reason the crows were perched on their shoulders before, if it's indeed the same crows and person. But as for why that might be..."
[18:13] Traim says, "Crows..."
[18:14] Redeth quietly asks, "Is it rare that two visions are so...strongly tied to each other?"
[18:14] You say to Redeth, "Not lately."
[18:14] Miskton says, "It's not common, but it's not unheard of."
[18:14] Renucci exclaims to you, "No Distant Gaze... And no Ring!"
[18:14] Miskton says, "One thing that I seem to take from this is that the crows themselves are not an ominous sign, though it wasn't clear in the previous vision."
[18:15] Traim asks, "And have you ever seen a crow with brown feathers?"
[18:15] Miskton says, "I think their feathers can sometimes turn brownish when molting, but I'm only vaguely remembering something I read once."
[18:15] Traim says, "Hmm."
[18:16] Traim says, "An elothean then, transformed, but maybe unaware of it."
[18:16] Traim says, "With crows at her sides the whole time after the transformation, after a battle with shadow."
[18:16] Traim says, "She then flies. And a crow falls in crimson."
[18:17] Traim says, "I can't help but think of the Temple of Serenity and Wyverns."
[18:17] Traim says, "But that's very, very disconnected."
[18:17] Traim says, "Elothean and flying being the only connections at all."
[18:18] Miskton says, "Unfortunately, a number of the visions I've seen lately seem rather obscure... though there are some that seem like they may at least make sense after the fact."
[18:19] Traim says, "I speculate, dangerously, but what if someone associated with the Temple of Serenity was..err..replaced."
[18:19] Traim says, "We know that a necromancer is behind the creations near there."
[18:19] Traim asks, "What if one is that talented? Like Book? Replacing an elothean with what is not a real elothean?"
[18:19] Redeth quietly says, "I'm afraid I haven't had the time to visit the temple. I will defer. I can think of no reasonable alternatives."
[18:20] Miskton says, "Might be a dangerous place for them to try. I think the Inquisition has taken some interest in the temple."
[18:20] Traim says, "Whoever has created the wyverns, I venture to wager, is not worried all that much about the inquisition."
[18:20] Traim says, "That is powerful, powerful magic."
[18:20] Traim says, "No offense to the inquisition."
[18:20] Traim says, "But it's beyond any necromantic creation I've ever seen."
[18:20] Traim says, "By far."
[18:21] Traim asks, "And remember Book making his friend so lifelike none of us even realized he was an undead pet?"
[18:21] Traim says, "A theory anyway."
[18:21] Traim says, "I don't know of any rumor even remotely suggesting that necromancy works into shape shifting."
[18:22] Traim says, "So crows and elothean, maybe nothing to do with crows and the flier at all."
[18:22] Traim asks, "Crimson though...we can agree crimson and shadow pose a threat?"
[18:23] Redeth quietly says, "They do alter their bodies in various ways, from what I've seen it's been largely for utilitarian purposes, denser dermis and the like. It's not beyond the realm of fancy that a more refined version of the discipline could allow for that."
[18:23] Miskton says, "On that note, there are a few themes to some of the remaining visions to discuss... and one of those is shadow."
[18:23] Miskton says, "I glimpsed a gigantic shell swarmed by living shadows. Magic crackled in the air though the vision faded before I could properly orient on the source."
[18:24] Miskton says, "There's certainly enough living shadows in the vicinity of Taisgath as it is."
[18:24] Miskton says, "Something aggravating them could have unfortunate results."
[18:25] Traim says, "War."
[18:25] Traim says, "No surprise there. The breech. The weak point."
[18:25] Traim says, "Pelag is not idle."
[18:26] Miskton says, "He's not... and Karosti may not be, either."
[18:26] Miskton says, "Just a conjecture, but the next vision..."
[18:26] Miskton says, "Well, calling it a vision may be inaccurate."
[18:26] Miskton says, "I saw nothing of the future. No visions formed. No knowledge flooded my mind. It was only after several long moments of observation that I realized the shadows about me were lengthening, deepening and a persistent unease burrowed into me."
[18:26] Miskton says, "Moments after I became aware of the phenomenon it faded away."
[18:27] Traim asks, "The mere searching for the prophecy...and the shadows around you grew?"
[18:28] Traim says, "Pelag. War. Every intrusion he countenances with a return volley from the shadow."
[18:28] Traim asks, "What else?"
[18:28] Miskton says, "Pelag is watching us, you can be certain of that."
[18:28] Miskton says, "He's spoken to me."
[18:28] Miskton says, "A voice filled my mind, "I see you Defiler. I claim you."
[18:29] You say, "I have heard him as well."
[18:29] Traim asks, "Same words?"
[18:29] Traim asks, "Same threat?"
[18:29] You say, "Aye."
[18:30] Renucci says, "I'm immune to the world."
[18:30] Traim says, "Nera named him, and so he tries to return the favor."
[18:30] Traim says, "He's claimed too many of us."
[18:31] Miskton says, "Aside from Karosti and Pelag... there may be a third figure that we need to worry about, as well... I'll get to that shortly, though."
[18:31] Traim asks, "Any news of Tiv?"
[18:32] Miskton says, "Not that I'm aware of."
[18:32] Sebrahn asks, "Not to hold things up, but I came in at the end of the last discussion. Will you clarify who Nera is?"
[18:33] Renucci says, "Not since I dropped him in Haven."
[18:33] Traim says, "The greatest prophet of the lunar magic history, as far as I know. Once, a long time ago, she Named the Servant of Fate, and the Arbiter."
[18:33] Miskton says, "She was responsible for the construction of the Planar Telescope, as well."
[18:33] Traim says, "She foresaw the fights to come."
[18:33] Sebrahn says, "I thought that might be who you were referring to, but I wasn't aware that she named Pelag."
[18:34] Traim says, "Servant."
[18:34] Traim says, "At least, as the recollection of the bard's recall that I read said. Ysselt, I believe, made that trip."
[18:35] Miskton says, "The next vision somewhat bridges the themes of shadows and the next group, featuring elderly figures, but I'm not sure it's directly related to any of those visions."
[18:35] Miskton says, "An old man sat in darkness. Alone. In his hands rested a cracked crystal that softly glowed with a sterile light, illuminating his frosty eyes."
[18:36] You say, "That reminds me of Tiv, some."
[18:36] Miskton asks, "Does anyone know if any crystals were recovered from the Crystal Hand fortress, perhaps?"
[18:37] Traim says, "Certainly sounds like Tiv."
[18:38] Traim says, "I don't know of any."
[18:38] Traim says, "But I've heard nothing about recovery efforts there."
[18:39] Miskton says, "Whoever the old man in that vision is, he may be faring better than the women in the next two visions. At least one of whom is a lunar mage, I believe."
[18:39] Miskton says, "Soft grey mist filled the air and I found myself facing an ancient human, her cropped hair whited by age but her cat-slitted eyes remained alert."
[18:39] Miskton says, "Addressing the mist she said, "I have no fear of you, but I am tired. Do what you ve come to do, it is my time. On that we agree." As if in afterthought she added, "And give her my regards."
[18:39] Miskton says, "The mists ignited as the woman slumped lifelessly."
[18:39] Miskton says, "And the other..."
[18:40] Miskton asks, "An elderly Halfling sat in a stone-walled study, squinting over a gilded scroll through thin silver spectacles. An errant breeze drew her attention as it tussled her hair. She gazed upwards, "She wasn't enough for you? No, I suppose not. Nor will I be. I ve seen it in the cards, that and so many other things. But that's just the problem, isn't it?"
[18:41] Traim asks, "Gylwyn?"
[18:41] Traim says, "The latter."
[18:41] Miskton says, "Too old, I think."
[18:41] Traim says, "She's been around awhile..."
[18:42] Traim says, "But spectacles too, never heard of that for her."
[18:42] Redeth quietly says, "Demosel would be my guess for the first."
[18:43] Redeth quietly says, "But the woman reminds me more of an Empath than a Moonmage."
[18:43] Traim asks, "Seen it in the cards...suggests Tokka, and a seer, yes?"
[18:43] Traim asks, "Demosel...yes. The eyes?"
[18:43] Traim says, "For the first."
[18:43] Miskton asks, "My impression is of someone striking down lunar mages. And if they're targeting older ones, perhaps they are those who know something in particular?"
[18:43] Redeth quietly says, "You don't forget her. She was...stern."
[18:44] Traim says, "Amiss."
[18:44] Traim says, "Demosel and Amiss."
[18:44] Traim asks, "Why them?"
[18:45] Miskton says, "It seems they both knew what was going to happen."
[18:45] Traim asks, "So who is the mist...who owes them a death?"
[18:45] Miskton says, "The fact that the cards were 'just the problem' could potentially refer to the Servant."
[18:46] Redeth quietly says, "If I had to guess...given the shadows that are encroaching on your ability to see into the future...those two would likely have been able to pierce whatever veil is falling on your precognition."
[18:47] Traim asks, "Demosel had a Leth guild hall for a bit, didn't she?"
[18:47] Redeth quietly says, "It makes sense to blind those with the best vision...or murder them as it were."
[18:47] Redeth quietly says, "It was before my time. I was in the Moonmages only a short while."
[18:48] Miskton says, "It might not be wise to focus too much on Pelag, though, as much as he wishes us ill. There's another vision which features someone who appears to be able to move without being seen. And could perhaps go unnoticed except for mist, or a breeze..."
[18:48] Miskton says, "The world darkened and I found myself watching a bustling crowd in monochrome hues. Walking among them, seemingly unnoticed by the crowd, was a sharp featured woman swathed in vivid purples. As the crowd carried her away I noticed several more figures awash with purple."
[18:49] Miskton says, "The purple makes me think of some relation to the Prophets of G'nar Peth, there, especially given the other vision featuring the color."
[18:49] Miskton says, "I found myself amidst a small gathering of dusty scholars clad in purple robes. They huddled about a modestly large excavation in the sunbaked ground chattering animatedly. Several brass spokes jutted from the dig, each capped with a differently colored sphere."
[18:50] Redeth quietly says, "Gathering followers perhaps."
[18:50] Traim says, "Hmm."
[18:50] Traim asks, "Separate visions or the same?"
[18:50] Miskton says, "Separate."
[18:51] Traim says, "Different purples then. The first suggests to me teleologic sorcery, because of the monochrome background."
[18:51] Traim says, "The latter, the Pethian diggers."
[18:51] Miskton says, "If the Pethians are going to manage to dig up some relic, that seems like a good thing... unless there's something dangerous about it."
[18:52] Traim says, "If a moon mage is animated about it, particularly a Pethian, I assume dangerous."
[18:53] Miskton says, "As far as the woman in purple goes... I get an ominous feeling from her, but I don't have much to back it up aside from the potential relation to sorcery, in the lack of color."
[18:55] Miskton says, "And unfortunately for Demosel and Amiss... I don't think there's much that can be done for them. They apparently know what's going to happen, but it's not enough to help them."
[18:57] Miskton says, "There was one more vision that I experienced, but I'm afraid it's not likely to lead to much in the way of discussion."
[18:57] Miskton says, "Chanting filled the air, as dozens of voices overlapped into a faint rhythm of muddled words."
[18:58] Miskton says, "With all those voices together, it was impossible to make out anything in particular, so I'm afraid that doesn't leave much to go on."
[18:59] Miskton asks, "Does anyone have any questions, or other points they'd like to bring up?"
[19:00] Redeth quietly says, "I do not, thank you."
[19:01] Miskton says, "Well, then I think we can wrap things up here. I'll note, however, that in the near future there will be a moon mage conclave, to which all lunar mages are invited. With all this activity in the web of fate, I'm sure we'll have plenty to discuss... even aside from the planned lectures, games and entertainment."
[19:02] You say to Miskton, "Certainly a lot to think about... Thank you for leading us today."
[19:02] Miskton says, "And thank you all for coming."
[19:03] You hear the voice of Renucci exclaim, "Thanks for hosting!"
[19:03] Zandrith says to Miskton, "Thank you for the information."
[19:03] Traim says, "Thank you Miskton."
[19:03] Miskton says, "My pleasure."
[19:03] Renucci asks, "Still have that beam?"
[19:03] Renucci says, "If not I'll walkt."
[19:03] Artarashai says to you, "I hope you are able to make it."
[19:04] Miskton says, "And now, I foresee myself soon being on an island paradise. Hopefully I can take my mind off these dark tidings for at least a few days."
[19:04] Renucci says, "It will be good."
[19:05] You say to Miskton, "I hope you have a pleasant visit."
[19:05] Traim says, "Taisidon."
[19:05] Traim says, "As you say."
[19:06] Miskton says, "Well, enjoy the rest of the evening, all."
There were a fair few new visions to discuss tonight, here is the record!

As usual - thank you for posting these. Both for getting them out to the community and for my own amusement seeing how visions are interpreted. It's always entertaining to see how accurate you are on some and how far off on others. I've given up on trying to guess which visions will end up under which category.

There's at least one vision in that list where I think I've got an idea of what it might be about on an OOC level, but it's not really something that could be figured out IC. A lot of fun stuff in this batch, though. And thanks to people for coming and offering their own takes and insight! Because I would have had no idea who Demosel and Amiss were. Though I see in retrospect that trying to search Elanthipedia for clues did turn up Amiss, the name just didn't mean anything to me when I was looking.
