Greetings fellow moon mages, scholars, warriors, and prophets,

War is upon us. For all the apparent peace in your day to day lives, no one can deny what we have seen in the Web. No one can deny that we have already lost one Sect Hall, and almost one guildleader, to this War. The threat is dire enough that Master Tiv risked everything for an opportunity to counter Pelag with the "gift" of the Arbiter. The efficacy and wisdom of that gesture are yet to be seen. One would be remiss to ignore the signs of Karosti's involvement -- past and future -- and the threat of the burning Web we see now.

It has been too long since we met as a group -- too long since we had a Conclave. On behalf of Mistanna, Malzard, Skaen, Kraggur, Sebrahn, Eyuve, Atazai, Damart, Miskton, and myself, I implore you to attend a formal Conclave of moon mages at Stardome in some weeks time. Many preparations are being made but given the threats we face, we need help from all guild members to spread the word to all corners of the realm.

The challenges facing us all are philosophical as much as they are literal. Come prepared for discussion, and come prepared for death. Peace at the Conclave will be strictly enforced, but as you all know, a moon mage is never really safe. Come prepared for the unexpected and come prepared to take sides.

OOC:

We're holding a Conclave Event on May 17 at 10 pm eastern. Portals will open from the provinces to the Stardome. Attendance is open to any moon mage 5th circle or above. Select others may be invited via invitations if it fits; while we'd love to have anyone and everyone come, the Conclave events have, as a tradition, generally been moon mage only. Mistanna and other folks involved will post additional reminders/thoughts about the event as they'd like, as it approaches. The general "context" of the event is meant to fall in context with, and work off of, the threats going on in game. A couple parts of the light-hearted side of the event include:

(A) Raffle for (1) an unused clockwork sapphire prism, the 5000 plat dok version from the last fest; (2) an altered stellar magic focus; (3) an altered enchanting case, and

(B) Trivia with altered prizes and plats for each.

Other hosts running other very cool aspects may explain more of those ahead of the Conclave. Or they might not.

The theme of the Conclave, as you noticed from the IC note, will center around current events and the need (or lack thereof) for guild unity and resolve, as well as the tension between different philosophical approaches concerning what it means to "Fight Fate."

It's going to be an awesome time and I hope lots of people can make it. If you aren't a moon mage, now's the time to consider converting.

Haha, pop quiz - who is the worst: (1) personification of Fate seeking to annihilate the guild and perhaps all prophets in general, (2) splinter group of moon mages (maybe?) willing to threaten the universe to answer #1, (3) Nilassa, who wants to open a portal to the plane of probability for the Hunger demon, (4) Kssarh-Cthulhu hybrid, or (5) [write in entries].

No way! Consider it a round-about, much-late follow-up to the lore thread you let us have. We won't hold you to it, but batting around worst of worst ideas for the fun of it will, I bet, lead to fun tangents and neat lore tid-bits.

For my part, assuming the obvious winner (Kssarh-Cthulhu), I think second place is a tie between Nilassa "let Entropy loose on Fate!" and Pelag "off the reservation." Here's my reasoning. I think introducing Entropy's Glory into the Plane of Probability could have crazy exponential consequences for anything remotely touching the plane of probability (which I bet is a lot of planes). Regarding Pelag, I think the concept of an inflexible personification of Fatalism actually taking action to enforce its law (contradiction in terms there?) is probably the most terrifying thing of all to anyone that would value even the illusion of free will. At least in the latter case, there appears to be some hint that the Arbiter will not tolerate Pelag playing god. Too much.

Also, new write-in option for my own post: Guildmaster primes of certain family lines that hold so tight to power that they prevent adequate defenses to above threats.

Note: My in-fun characterization of Nilassa is not fair or complete, but just a bit of OOC fun (unless she wants to weigh in otherwise). She's tough.

Reminder to mark your calendars! May 17, 10 pm eastern, Moon Mage Conclave special event. Portals will open from everywhere and we will be handing out invitations to moon mages very soon. There will be games (with very nice prizes), a raffle (with very nice prizes), argument, discussion, and who knows what other trouble. Things always go smoothly when you gather a bunch of moon mages.
