Hi all! Next week on Wednesday, the 3rd of February, we'll be having another guild social located at one west in the Crossing guild at 9 EST.
This time we'll be discussing apprenticeships. We'll go over goals for students, methods of teaching and the philosophy of master-apprentice relationships.
In addition, it's my hope we can get several people interested in apprenticing or taking on an apprentice. It's a really fun little RP dynamic and you can go a lot of places with it, so I hope several people will step up. I myself will be considering taking another apprentice and I have managed to blackm...I mean appeal to Malzard's better nature to take one as well, so if any nooblers out there are interested, show up with your roletard hats on.
See you on the 3rd!

I tried to turn my last apprentice into a Y'shai using burn and a set of heavy plate.
He ended up re-rolling and becoming a ranger...
On an unrelated note, need any help with the master-apprentice relationships portion?

Just a reminder, the meeting is happening tonight (Wednesday) at 9 PM EST, one west of Kssarh. We'll be discussing master-apprentice relationships, including touching on some history, teaching goals, philosophy and even pairing off some novices with some more experienced members of the guild.
I've had several novices approach me over the past week interested in this, so I encourage anyone interested in potentially mentoring someone or being a student to show up. It's a fun little piece of roleplay, plus you get to help shape our next generation of moonard roleplayers.
Hope to see you all there.

Big thanks to everyone that showed up tonight, it was a lot of fun and we got a few novices squared away with teachers. We'll see if they last. :x
Malzard got out of teaching anyone but we'll get him next time.
And good job being my foil tonight, Serchah. I think you frightened the newbies a little.

Anytime. I had a blast. Shout out to Fieris for telling Serc off. My money is on her doing just fine in the guild.

Damn I wanted to come and totally slipped my mind. Hopefully I can make the next one. Tax season started and I by the time I get home I am dead mentally.

Should I include Serchah and Caelumia's after meeting romantic tryst?

Summary is easy. We started by talking about why ancient mages used to indulge in apprenticeships, then moved on to some well-known master-apprentice relationships (Kssarh and Tiv for example). We went over the benefits of an apprenticeship to both the teacher and the student, and what the relationship means ethically and what responsibilities they both have.
AFAIK everyone is still in touch with the students they got paired up with so things seem to be going okay so far.
