This is awesome news, thanks for (continuing) to work MM stuff, Raesh. Between you and Armifer, I am looking forward to all the new ways we will have to destroy ourselves, and events that will destroy us, and GMPCs that will destroy us, and so on and so forth.

Do you have any ideas re: a sect rewrite (clearly down the road awhile) that you want to share? I've been following the development of the Bard Heritages and it seems like there's some really cool potential, as you said, for parallel work in sects.

Nothing beyond a few tentative ideas that aren't even in the proposal stages yet.

All Crystal monks get katana and are required by law to act like ninja/samurai depending on armor class, and scream out 'Mystic dragon palm flying 1000 birds chirping wind slash' every time they swing a sword.

You can now. Seriously though, that gets a big "Maybe". I imagine if they get a significant overhaul we'll end up opening them up as a one time deal just for fairness, but we'll see.

As opposed to the changes they've seen in the past that makes us regret our sect choices?

It's been said before, and I mostly stand by it, "If you're picking your sect for mechanical reasons you're doing it wrong". They're meant to flavor RP, and if the mechanical benefits are strong enough to cause problems like this, we've got a flaw in the design.

However, my statement was mostly pointed at the fact that the degree of overhaul I'm talking about would be far beyond any changes sects have seen to date.

For my own curiosity, which changes are you speaking to?

Sect-Related Cantrips: Gift of the Stars (keyword: "refill"), Avtai Alshavi (keyword: "season").

Do I need to elaborate?

Sure. They're decent cantrips I'll grant you, but I don't recall any changes to either of them and they're hardly game breakers. For my money Heritage House likely has the single best cantrip, but between spell affinity and cantrips I feel like there's a fairly good balance between the sects currently.

From the (very small given the hour) sample I just looked at there's three other sects currently more popular then the Compact. I'll have to take a snap shot during a more prime time.

That's not going to be nearly as telling as when people joined the Compact. As a hint it was before the cantrips were "brought in line." I wouldn't necessarily be able to tell you which Sect I would switch to, but I can tell you that post-3.0? The Sect will be even less attractive than it is currently.

Refill used to be really significant and awesome. Now it's fairly useless (I am either 100% fine for mana or OOM and there is no in between).

Season is still a pretty good cantrip for enchanters and more or less useless for everyone else. Please note that in 3.0 it will transition to being pretty useless for everyone.

So yeah, we'd love a re-do.

Season isn't useful for Enchanters. Season doesn't allow you to Study the constellation, just Observe.

<<guild ranking scrolls>>

Good thing I'm not Advocate. I hate the Guild Scrolls with a passion. So I'd do something like "Most defenestrations" for Kssarh, 'Most Botched Teleports' for Tiv... etc, etc.

I was going to say "Didn't I already do that..." but that's for the other hat I'm wearing right now. Right. Right. I can already see this is going to be confusing :P

If someone wants to toss together a proposal for what they'd like to see ranked in what guildhall I'm perfectly willing to consider it.

In addition to Most Defenestrations and Most Botched Teleports, I think the obvious ones are:

Highest overall requirements (equivalent to circle after post-150 circling is enabled)
Highest total magic
Highest total survival
Highest total lore
Highest prediction counter

Beyond those, possibly one that is combat-related: maybe highest top weapon + TM + parry + shield + evasion?

I'll leave more creative proposals to others.

I'd like to see:

- Best at predicting (Astrology + prediction-related stats)
- Translucent foreheads (Int + Wis + Disc)
- Orbital lasers (TM)
- Stealthiest (Stealth skill)
- Best enchanters (when the Enchanting skill comes out)
- Highest mundane weapon and/or best Str + Agi (just because some of us like to show off tert skills and non-standard builds)

Refill should help your attunement go faster either way. Probably not as useful but complete oom now is devastating till it gets to the mid range of your harness and if that happens refill should help shorten the time, though new mana regen means its less of an issue than before.

Season does what it always does, if you never found a use for it you never will. I, being a person who loves predictions, would enjoy it greatly but its not part of my sect.

I like each one to develop their own way of doing things, I have moon mages in all of the sects except compact and heritage so far, and for each one, it has suited their IC personality. <for 2 of them I have their backstories up on epedia <the tezerite - Wulvana; and the nomad - Negev>, the others will wait until they hit 30th circle before I put them up there. I enjoy exploring the different types of options each will have as they grow into their respective paths in life. And part of that is finding out what they can do as each manage to get cantrips as they advance, but they are part of their personality, not something that is the only reason to role up that particular sect.
