what exactly determines success or failure on another PC? tried this on a newbie MM <almost straight out of the character manager> with no good result.

>perf consume on XXX
You bend over XXX's corpse, but fail to cut its body in the proper locations. You realize the misaligned markings ruin the body for any further attempts at rituals.

I don't know exactly, but it looks like a straightforward skill failure, need more Thanatology ranks?

Is your thanology = to your weapon ranks? If not, that's clearly the issue.

i'm wondering if this holds true for that ritual?

i don't seem to have nearly the problem learning from harvest as i do with preserve, and i understand that preserve contests and teachs FA, whereas harvest teaches and contests skinning <which i have much higher than FA>. I'm wondering what consume contests. BUE has help somewhat with doing rituals on things over my head thanatology-wise, will have to see if it helps with consume.

<<I'm wondering what consume contests.

Z said harvest trains both skinning/thanatology and preserve trains both FA/thanatology while consume trains ONLY thanatology. Based on that I have to assume consume is a purely thanatology-based skill check.

Would that suggest that Consume would teach thanatology better?

I know this: if life is illusion, then I am no less an illusion, and being thus, the illusion is real to me. I live, I burn with life, I love, I slay, and am content.

Yes, that's what Z either implied or said in that post IIRC. I was using consume for training thanatology until I got arise. Best way to lock thanatology is to perform preserve followed by arise. At least, that's what works best for me so far.

Someone told me the outrage hit on Consume is very high, at least, significantly higher then harvest. Anyone able to confirm this?

It'd be much easier to confirm if there were an outrage checker.

I haven't been even attempting to mitigate my divine outrage and I have yet to lose the one favor I have left. In light of that, I can safely say Consume isn't that big of a hit, I'm sure Arise is much worse, but once again, I'm not even attempting to avoid divine outrage.

ok. finally got consume flesh to work on bloodwolves.

i haven't had oppotunity to try to give diseases to corpses. I have tried experiments with poison, with no conclusive results so far. Anyone else try poisoning a corpse? Is it possible?

Its been stated that necromancers won't have a means by which to alleviate disease and poison. However, you could probably rid yourself of disease by using consume until your wounds are gone, allowing the disease to go dormant, and eventually remove itself.
