The tall, green scaled s'kra was surprised to see his sister in the forest. She had not been known to enjoy hunting before. Always in libraries, inside, with her nose in a book. It was strange to see her in his domain. But since she had told him she had joined the Warrior Mage guild he figured he would see her sooner or later.
He hunted for what he needed in the forest. Yes, he killed animals. But he respected their spirits, and gave them a quick death, usually with an arrow through the heart or the head. And afterwards took great care to skin them in such a way that the pelts would be useful for his family. To make their clothes. To give food to his young wolf companion. To give back to the forest its gifts, that hav'roth and Kuniyo both gave to him...
Nothing like what he had seen today. He had come upon her unawares... hiding as he usually did from his prey...
and there he saw her, bending over the corpse of the beast briefly, before plunging her knife cruelly into the body and carving out a chunk of its flesh and blood! What manner of thing was this?
He came out of the shadows... Sister! what are you doing?
She looked startled a moment, then the cruel look vanished from her face, with an almost blank expression, then said..." Oh, I was just doing a project for the empaths by drawing circles in this... animal. Quite precise, yes? It really is quite the efficient technique. Very scientific, yes? It will help the empaths with their anatomy charts." She nodded, then went back to casting arcane sigils in the air.
He averted his eyes... "I suppose. I think i will be ill though." He searched through the forest, quickly finding a trail to elsewhere. Anywhere else but with his sister...

So what natural events cause others to raise and live as they never had died before? Yet by some sick twist of fate, both my parents were laid to ruin and ash before Lyra's powerful invasion that swept these lands. I ran, as my mother and father told me to. I ran and avoided the crowds. What good were they? I hoped in my smaller years, at the age of nine, I hoped to see their faces. I hope to smell their smell. I hope to see their prydaen bodies warm and welcoming and healthy. But then I heard she....she broke through. Alas I knew then there was no hope, and that I was forced to sustain myself. My scrawny figure as it were. My kinked tail due to many people in the crowded streets of crossing stepping on a very young prydaen hardly noticing her. I was a wall. But then I found a man, and I looked up at him, with my ears drooping and my tail dragging across the dusty floor, causing my coat to look rugged and reeking of rats and vermin and death, blood-crusted claws and fangs. And still, looked up at him with my big brown eyes.
"You look rough in for the weather. Would you like some food? Some new clothing my child?"
And so the events went, I was given a job, food, a bathing area. Kindness was shown to me. And while it was shown to me, I learned things, I was taught manners, I was taught to be quiet and to not be as expressive as my kind can be at times. Too not fidget but learn and hear lessons. Slowly the slow work was dulling me, and I gained curiosity on what lied beyond these meager chores.
What knowledge could be obtained in such meager manners. It is a wonder. And yet I am still young. Only 15 years, and I have obtained the knowledge that most men cannot even fathom. I may for now walk among the crowd, but later I will walk among philosophers, and be quick and witty. That is my goal. I shall obtain it.
