Does anyone know the weight limits on Plate items?
More specifically, I'm looking for the weight division between HP and LP greaves.
I know vambracers are Scale Vambraces are LP and Plate Vambraces are HP, and I know for Gauntlets:
< 49 is Light Plate
= 50 is neutral
> 51 is Heavy Plate

To add to the question, where does chain cutoff at? I've yet to forge any HC shirts. Even using a density 5 mix won't result in a neutral shirt, just good ol' LC. I've tried both the chain shirt and the full chain shirt templates. Is compression the only means by which you can get a HC shirt? Thanks for any help you can give me.

I answered this in the Forging Folder but there's what my notes have as the weight break points for various armor types:
chain vambraces LC <100>HC
mail gloves LC <45> HC
chain greaves LC <30> HC
chain helm LC <100>HC
chain body LC <400>HC
plate greaves LP <100>HP
plate gauntlets LP <50>HP
Redarch

Thanks for the info.
Do you have the rest of the metal armours available? I think it was "Clynlyn" who had a Yahoo group for all of these questions and had tables for item weights, armour and weapon volumes by forge pattern, etc. Does anyone know if such a valuable resource exists currently?
I'm also curious about opinions on the forging "skill" and counter. I'm guessing from what I can see, from the few hundred posts I grazed, that the forging "skillset" has not been released to date and does not appear to be headed for the "soon" category. I was wondering about opinions on whether or not creating worthless pieces to increase my character's counter was yet worthwhile, or would the time be better spent increasing mech/armour skills and worry about the counter later in my paladin's career? I don't see a forging skill released on the info pages so I'm guessing that the only use for piece count to date is to enhance the analyze ability. Any relevant experiences would be great.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers

Will it be worthwhile under Forging 2.0? No PC really knows, and perhaps neither do the GM's as of right now. But if you are looking to analyzing things better or see who made things, I say why not? It does get to be a costly habit, but if you got the plat to burn and time to spend then go for it. I have nothing against people who push their counter up by making useless junk to throw away in a bin. It's that persons time and money not mine.

Forging skill was proposed for the mech lore split. Mech lore was going to go bye-bye and 6 or 9 lores were going to be put in. Just like the music lore split, you'd get to choose where your ranks would go for the new skils. Nothing has really been said further regarding the split however, at least not recently that i've seen. As of right now the counter only lets you analyze stuff better and that is what its original purpose was to do to begin with.

I'm still trying to remember volumes... so I guess the time in the forge is a good idea anyway :o) Not having limitless plats to figure out the basics yet again I didn't want to waste time and effort that would be better spent on more usefull skills if the concensus was that it was essentially redundant effort.
Thanks for sharing the wisdom.

There we go, thanks very much. The only one I could remember was gauntlets (10 slugs wasn't a tough one...) but I wanted to get a my counter working on everything so that saves a load of time and coin.
Just out of curiosity, does anyone know if an iron slug is 5.1 stones or that it is definately 5? Mammas might round off... :o)
Thanks again.

I did zinc since you should see a full stone less if there is a decimal at only 5 slugs...
5 zinc slugs = 25 stones, NOT 24 (according to MAMAs)
So zinc slugs at least are 5 stones no 4.8.

For armor, there are only 3 counters.
1) Plate, of any type - increases plate counter and general
2) Chain, of any type - increases chain counter and general
3) General smithing - increases all counters (sortof)
I'm not going into detail on this, that can be found in the general smithing folder. The point I'm making is simply that there is not a separate counter for plate gauntlets, plate greaves, plate helms, etc... they are all counted towards analyze under the plate counter.
