I will say that TM has to be the easiest skill to learn in the game. Not to mention the fact that I learn three additional skills for the same actions.

Eh? It's one of the more difficult ones for me. What are you doing to train it?

Bolt spam? Locks pretty easily. He's also tertiary and I suspect still back-training it to a degree.

I don't know if I was doing something wrong but spamming bolt has never been successful/efficient for me.

STRA is more accurate, more effective and adding mana has the added benefit of training other magic skills as well (plus it has some super cool messaging).

For me TM is just about 50 ranks shy of my primary weapon so it's not really backtraining any more. It is, however, a tert skill which does make it easier to lock.

Congrats.

stra works pretty well for training target, for my guy. I used FST also when training melee's, but I think my routine for backtraining bows and using stra worked best for me.

prep stra 40
load
target
aim
fire
cast
*face next
*cast

repeat

only if the creature died from bow*

The thing that did it for me was finding the right creature, something that wound up being quite a bit higher than what my # of ranks suggested I should fight, and then the right combination of target time and mana. I've found the creatures that I can just spam a TM spell at, I wind up not learning very well. Seems to be painfully slow to me. I wish I'd did more experimenting at lower circles, but I'm already at the point where I'm training tm very well, and my main combat skills.

TM - 264
Shield - 523
2HE - 377

All being trained in DP Sentinels.

I actually don't spam. I use STRA (I think Katt uses the same tech I do with the spell) and I train PM, TM and HAR at an even rate among the three. Toss in some PP and Arcana (or whatever it is called nowadays)...sick training (5 skills) for one action.

Highly recommend all paladins train it if for no other reason than for TDP's and efficiency.

I do! Stole it from him. :D

Shield: 655
HE: 505
TM: 437 (oops, 70 ranks, not 50)

I can train them together in head-splitters pretty nicely.
for TM I use
prep stra 12
target
charge armband 10
focus
cast
repeat

As Madigan said, it trains TM along with PM, Harness and Arcana. PP to a lesser degree. But the other four magics move at a relatively even rate. It's nice.

Ohhh...nice ranks Katt! Imagine if we could have trained TM the entire time? I know two, maybe three paladins with over 700 in TM.

I know, right? Backtraining it was a pain. I can't even express how happy I was when it was finally at a point I could train it with my primary stuff. But I do love having it as an option so it was worth it.

Crazy, considering it's tert for you guys. Tert skills suck >:(

Honestly, I don't hate training tert skills. Yes, they move slowly, don't get me wrong. But they are just stupidly easy to lock and leave them, or to keep experience in them since they drain slowly. So yeah, they move slow but they are easy to get/keep moving.
