<<...We are not, as a guild, bound to the immortals above all else...
I guess this boils down to previous questions about "What is a paladin", as well as personal differences, but I view some of the information out there as showing we ARE supposed to be bound to the immortals first and foremost. Oane's lectures show there were paladins long before the guild as we know it, all called personally by the immortals, and the current guild was founded because one man, and eventually others, were specifically called by the immortals. I joined long after Beren left though, so I'm not sure what his joining speech was. Not trying to change anyones RP of their character though, just giving a different view of things.

<<Pretty sure Phan is just off on a tangent and talking about his own paladin, which is all good. I disagree, but that is part of the fun of being in the paladin guild.

Somewhat true... I do go off at times on tangents that may not relate or be relevant to most, if any... but in this case I was referring to our guild as it stands currently... maybe my interpetation is wrong but I felt there was no emphasis placed on our duty to the immortals over any other duty we have... only that through the diligent following of all our duties... are we found worthy and granted the usage of powers bestowed by the Gods... if you feel that because we wield the tools of the divine we are beholden to them above all else... that seems more a personal choice then the position i stated of the requirement to weigh all as equil. We are blessed by the Gods for our service to our guild and the following of its teachings... included in those teachings are the requirements to honor the Gods through doing rightous acts and advocating an enlightened lifestyle... avoiding the influence of things often represented by the Dark Aspects of the Thirteen. If our Charter were differant... we could expect changes in what standard is applied to us to deem us worthy of using our divinely granted powers.

A Paladin is a Holy Warrior, touched and graced by the gods themselves. Through a path of righteous dedication to the guild's teachings and through service to the Immortals, the worthy are rewarded for their valor and honor with abilities blessed from the deities and emerge into an extreme force to reckon with. Woe to the villain who stands before the Paladin submerged in deceit and evil ways!
