I wasn't exactly sure where to post it but since it happened in Haven I thought this was the best place to put it. This log is a little long, I'm sorry. I started it after all the parties were present.
[Riverhaven Trader Market, Bronze Room]
Also in the room: Squire Palorn, Guild Researcher Oane, Guildleader Willowbrook, River Scout Scarith, Wildflower Raynzong, Empath Serenanna who is sitting, Phantom Oraku, Drifter Illeon, Field Medic Sajuta, Vyshna, Wild Boobuh, Pathfinder Vijin, Sympath Kaminna, and Elemental Lady Saraimesch.
Willowbrook says, "Oane, how nice to see you."
Palorn bows.
Oane says to Willowbrook, "Your assistant said you'd be here. I'm sorry. I had thought we were meeting in private."
Willowbrook asks, "Oh, was that today?"
Oane babbles incoherently.
Willowbrook says, "I thought it was on the morrow."
Oane asks, "Maybe it was?"
Oane scratches his head.
Oane says, "Oh my apologies if it was tomorrow."
Oane says, "I could have sworn it was today."
Willowbrook says, "No need for apology."
Willowbrook says, "I had no business today."
Oane says, "Oh I'm sorry, this is Palorn."
Oane says, "She is my escort."
Palorn bows.
Willowbrook smiles captivatingly at Palorn.
Palorn blushes, the tips of her ears turning a delicate scarlet hue.
Oane says, "You know how guild councils can get with old geezers like me."
Oane chuckles.
Willowbrook says, "Oh, you can't be a day over eighty-five."
Oane beams!
Oane says, "Good genes and good empaths."
Oane chuckles.
Oane asks, "Well, is this an appropriate place for the meeting?"
Willowbrook asks, "How is the latest digging?"
Oane says, "That's kind of why I'm here actually."
Willowbrook says, "I'm a bit too old to start digging."
Oane says, "I love the digging. I will never stop."
Oraku says, "you look pretty young to me"
Oraku smiles at Willowbrook.
Willowbrook says, "And not even a trader."
Willowbrook smiles captivatingly at Oraku.
Willowbrook says, "Charming."
Oraku chuckles.
Oane grins at Oraku.
Oane cackles!
Saraimesch says, "he is isn't he"
Oraku says, "afraid my calling was for a different course"
Willowbrook says, "Well, you have the charisma of a trader, if you change your mind, come see me."
Oane asks, "As I was saying, is this an appropriate place?"
Willowbrook asks, "It should be, what did you need to speak about?"
Oane says, "Need your expertise."
Willowbrook asks, "Oh?"
Oane opens his scholar's satchel.
Oane gets a serrated piece of platinum dangling from a black cord necklace from inside his scholar's satchel.
Oane says, "I'm researching this item."
Willowbrook asks, "What can I help you with, Oane?"
Oane says, "I haven't figured out the etchings on it; therefore, I'm going back to basics on it. I would like to know what it might have been. It doesn't look like it was deliberately made into a piece of strange jewelry."
Oane offers Willowbrook a serrated piece of platinum dangling from a black cord necklace.
Willowbrook accepts Oane's cord necklace.
Willowbrook begins to carefully examine a serrated piece of platinum dangling from a black cord necklace.
Willowbrook looks closely at the pendant and muses, "Yes, let's see here."
Willowbrook says, "As you probably know, this metal is platinum."
Oane smirks and puts his hands on his hips, akimbo.
Willowbrook holds the necklace away from her face for a moment and then looks closer and comments, "It's not really worth much, currency wise, even though it's platinum."
Willowbrook says, "Though not a cheap quality of platinum alloy, it certainly wasn't for royalty. There are some significant impurities, but I can't quite make out what other type of metal may have been mixed into it."
Oane raises his eyebrow in curiosity.
Willowbrook continues, "Obviously it was crudely cut away from another piece of the platinum - a larger piece? Do you have the other piece?"
Oane shakes his head and says, "I did suspect there was another piece, perhaps even two pieces. The owner said I was correct."
Turning the jagged piece of metal in her palm, Willowbrook nods and says, "Yes, you're right. It might have been torn from two separate areas of the larger metal. It's almost as if someone created a jigsaw puzzle and this is part of it."
Oane nods and says, "Yes, that was my suspicion as well."
Oane continues, "It looks as if it were pounded from another piece of jewelry. My first guess was a buckle but the metal is too thick and the piece is too large. Any thoughts on that?"
Willowbook touches the cool metal and thumbs the jagged areas. She says, "Buckle was a good guess, but you're right. It was either a poorly made buckle or it simply wasn't a buckle."
Willowbrook says, "Considering the platinum quality, I doubt it was a poorly wrought buckle."
Willowbrook purses her lips in contemplation, continually turning the metal in her fingers. "No... not a buckle. Perhaps part of some ceremonial armor? Or, what about a shield boss?"
Oane blinks at Willowbrook and asks, "Really? Armor or shield boss?"
Willowbrook nods and says, "It is possible that if it were really a shield boss, it was mixed with some sort of steel. Platinum is a fairly soft metal and combat would have easily have damaged it."
Willowbrook says, "Remove the boss, hammer it down to flatten it, put some engravings on it and then cut it up. It's not really unheard of. Sometimes a person needs money quickly which might infer theft, poverty, or both.
Willowbrook glances sideways and says, "It's just strange that the pieces are so crude now. Almost intentionally."
Oane excitedly asks, "But you also said perhaps armor?"
Willowbrook says, "My only reservation on the armor theory is that it goes against the alloy itself. The metal would have been too expensive to make a set of armor out of, it would have poor qualities of armor, and yet the impurities still tell me that no royalty made it."
Willowbrook narrows her eyes slightly at Oane and asks, "Do you understand what I'm saying about the clashing of properties here?"
Oane says, "I believe I do. You're saying that the armor is too impure to belong to someone of high class. And yet if it did, then the armor was fairly useless anyway."
Willowbrook says, "That's correct. The boss information may be incorrect as well but that's for you to find out isn't it?"
Oane says, "You're right."
Willowbrook offers Oane a serrated piece of platinum dangling from a black cord necklace.
Oane grins.
Oane accepts Willowbrook's cord necklace.
Oane says, "But you've given me a lot of information that I didn't have before."
Oane says, "And I thank you for that."
Oane says, "Hrm"
Willowbrook asks, "Where did you find this piece?"
Oane puts his necklace in his scholar's satchel.
Oane says, "It belongs to a family member of one of the Baron's late guards."
Willowbrook asks, "Oh?"
Oane says, "He came out looking for more information on the guard's death."
Willowbrook asks, "Which guard?"
Ciressa hesitantly says, "If I may, I do know that some of the paladins that enjoy jousting tend to wear more ceremonial armor than functional. Highly decorated pieces."
Oane says, "It was quite difficult getting this off his hands, let me tell you."
Willowbrook says, "I've known a few."
Oane says, "He really didn't want me to hold it longer than an anlas."
Willowbrook nods to Ciressa.
Willowbrook says, "A very good point."
Oane asks, "This was Atheina Wourthington. Did you know her?"
Willowbrook nods to Oane.
Oane says, "She was murdered a couple years back."
Willowbrook says, "I did, a tragedy."
Oane asks, "Did you know her well?"
Willowbrook says, "No, more socially."
Oane says, "I think her brother, the one who owns this piece, is looking for others who knew her."
Oane says, "Ah"
Oane nods.
Willowbrook says, "Though there was always that rumor..."
Oane asks, "Which rumor?"
Willowbrook says, "Oh, you know how us girls gossip."
Oane exclaims, "Oh do tell!"
Oane appears to be listening intently for something.
Willowbrook says, "Her and the Guildleader Darius."
Oane reaches over and covers Palorn's ears with his hands.
Oane says, "Oh that's old new."
Palorn blushes, the tips of her ears turning a delicate scarlet hue.
Oane laughs!
Oane says, "Old news."
Oane coughs.
Willowbrook says, "Well, don't say that, I hate having the old gossip."
Oane asks, "You mean that was still gossip?"
Willowbrook nods to Oane.
Willowbrook says, "Especially after her death."
Willowbrook says, "With the changes in him and his..."
Oane says, "Oh yes, that was..."
Oane blanches.
Willowbrook asks, "Sabbatical?"
Oane says, "The council sent him to Hibs after this."
Willowbrook nods.
Oane says, "They weren't really wanting him to handle new paladins."
Willowbrook says, "Verika was very concerned."
Oane says, "Actually."
Oane blinks at Palorn.
Oane asks Palorn, "Weren't you there?"
Palorn blushes, the tips of her ears turning a delicate scarlet hue.
Palorn nods to Oane.
Oane asks, "Do you remember what happened?"
Palorn says, "Yes, sir, I was."
Palorn says, "She was killed horrendously and I went to help bring back Guildleader Darius."
Oane asks, "Did you see Atheina?"
Palorn says, "It was a dark day for me, Sir."
Oane pats Palorn on the back.
Oane says, "For many."
Oane nods.
Palorn says, "I did what I could, but was little more than escort."
Palorn says, "I am still atoning for not being a better Paladin."
Oane says, "Oh it's not your fault."
Oane says, "You must realize that."
Oane frowns at Palorn.
Oane says, "This was Darius's mission."
Palorn says, "Of course, Sir, if you say so."
Oane says, "Er, that was."
Willowbrook pats Palorn on the back.
Palorn blushes, the tips of her ears turning a delicate scarlet hue.
Oane says, "Speaking of which..."
Oane says, "Atheina's brother is blind and being escorted by his wife."
Oane says, "And I think I'll need to send them to Darius."
Willowbrook says, "That's a trip for a blind man."
Willowbrook frowns.
Oane says, "But I wonder if it's not the right plan."
Oane says, "Exactly."
Oane says, "And I can't ask Darius to leave his post there, it's much too far."
Willowbrook nods to Oane.
Oane says, "Well, I'll need to report this information you gave."
Oane says, "I wish I knew a little more."
Willowbrook smiles captivatingly at Oane.
Willowbrook says, "I can give you no more than what I know about the piece itself."
Willowbrook says, "You know that I leave the history to you."
Oane asks, "Are you on a first name basis with the other guildleaders of your guild?"
Willowbrook says, "All of them."
Willowbrook says, "Though Seranda..."
Willowbrook smiles brightly, exuding confidence and charm.
Willowbrook says, "Still jealous, poor girl."
Oane says, "Have you any word on Cialen and Lady Snow? I know the Dragon Priests have been hitting hard."
Willowbrook says, "They are fine, I heard from him just yestereve."
Willowbrook says, "The boy is growing tall."
Oane exclaims, "Oh wonderful!"
Oane says, "Oh yes, that's Cialen's nephew? I never really had that clear in my mind."
Willowbrook says, "And he gave her the most wonderful anniversary gift."
Willowbrook nods to Oane.
Oane asks, "The boy did?"
Willowbrook says, "No, Cialen, though he is still almost a boy in my eyes."
Oane laughs!
Oane asks, "What kind of gift?"
Willowbrook says, "A previewing of a shop, just for her on their lawn."
Oane asks, "A shop?"
Willowbrook nods.
Willowbrook says, "Basington finally has decided to open a shop."
Oane says, "Well, must be nice to have connections."
Willowbrook says, "A traveling one, but it's about time."
Oane says, "Basington..."
Oane asks, "Why is that name familiar?"
Willowbrook says, "You must know him, your tendencies go the same."
Oane scratches his head.
Willowbrook asks, "Jeweler?"
Oane ponders.
Willowbrook asks, "But of the finest quality and his stones usually have a story to them?"
Oane exclaims, "Oh!"
Oane exclaims, "Yes!"
Willowbrook says, "He might be someone to ask about this necklace."
Oane asks, "Yes, he was the one who got the Night Opal from up north?"
Oane says, "Ah yes."
Willowbrook nods to Oane.
Oane says, "What I wouldn't do to get my hands on that. I should make a trip to see Lady Snow."
Oane coughs.
Oane snickers.
Oane says, "I don't mean steal it."
Willowbrook says, "I think young Cialen would have a thing or two to say about that."
Oane grins at Oraku.
Oane says, "Oh the gods would smite me."
Oraku hums to himself.
Oane says, "The councilors would flog me."
Willowbrook smiles brightly, exuding confidence and charm.
Serenanna says, "I don't think I've ever seen a man be that happy over jewelry before . . ."
Oane says, "And I've no wish to cross any Ilithian."
Willowbrook nods to Serenanna.
Oane says, "They've been pretty serious with practicing for combat it seems."
Willowbrook nods to Oane.
Willowbrook says, "All the military have been."
Oraku asks, "sorry for my eavesdropping and interuption and i know not heraldry and such, but could that trinket have been a seal or such ?"
Oraku raises an eyebrow.
Oane says, "True, but I've been hearing about a lot of activity down there."
Willowbrook ponders.
Oane asks, "The necklace?"
Oane asks, "I don't know, what say you Willowbrook?"
Oraku says, "yes, you spoke as if it was just a part of something that may not have been a necklace at all"
Willowbrook says, "A bit rough for a seal, but it's a good possiblity as the others."
Willowbrook asks, "And if the other pieces are the same size?"
Oraku scratches his head.
Willowbrook says, "It would be very large."
Oane opens his scholar's satchel.
Oraku shakes his head.
Oane gets a serrated piece of platinum dangling from a black cord necklace from inside his scholar's satchel.
Oane shows Oraku his cord necklace.
Oraku says, "forgive my speculation, i didnt mean to distract things"
Oane puts his necklace in his scholar's satchel.
Willowbrook says, "Of course not, that is what Oane is looking for."
Willowbrook says, "Speculation."
Oane says, "I'm looking for any info."
Oane says, "I'll take anything at this point."
Oraku asks, "you said that this was found with the one that was slain ?"
Oraku raises an eyebrow.
Oane says, "No"
Oane says, "It was brought with the one who was slain's brother."
Oane says, "He's looking for more information on the murder."
Oraku asks, "but was it originally from her ?"
Oraku raises an eyebrow.
Oane says, "No."
Oane says, "But she had one like it."
Oraku bows to Oane.
Willowbrook asks, "Why now, she's been gone for at least two years?"
Oane says, "I don't have all the details."
Oane says, "But what Cleworth passed along was that her tomb was..."
Oane says, "Raided."
Willowbrook frowns.
Oraku blinks.
Marsais asks, "Very recently?"
Marsais raises an eyebrow.
Oane says, "I don't know about very, but certainly recently."
Willowbrook says, "How sad."
Willowbrook says, "To die so horribly and to be dishonored in that fashion."
Oane says, "Apparently there was another one of these necklaces she was buried with."
Oane says, "It was not hers though."
Oane says, "It was the brother's."
Marsais ponders.
Oraku blinks.
Willowbrook asks, "And who does this one belong to?"
Oane says, "No one knows where hers is."
Oane asks, "I don't know. I suspect another family member?"
Willowbrook nods.
Boobuh ponders could there not be great danger if the three are joined together?
Willowbrook says, "Makes sense, actually."
Serenanna gives Boobuh a gentle poke in the ribs.
Oraku scratches his head.
Oane says, "Now the brother wants to know its significance of course."
Oane says, "And he wants to find the one she had on her originally."
Oane says, "It wasn't sent to the family after her death."
Willowbrook asks, "Was anything else missing from her gravesite?"
Oane says, "But not all her belongings were as I understand it."
Oraku asks, "two family members with pieces of the same object and he nae knows what it is ?"
Oane says, "Cleworth didn't specify that."
Willowbrook nods.
Oane says to Oraku, "I suspect he knows more than he told me."
Oraku nods to Oane.
Oane says, "He seemed highly reluctant to tell me much."
Oraku says, "i would think so"
Willowbrook asks, "Hmm...does the wife seem like a gossiper?"
Serenanna says, "you probably shouldn't tell him much in return . . ."
Oane says, "Not at all. They were both fairly quiet."
Oane says, "Wyndz and I did most of the talking I think."
Oraku says, "may i speculate that if he actually knows, but is asking you to find out because there is another reason behind it, then perhaps part of the mystery would be in finding out why"
Willowbrook says, "Well, that leaves me out."
Willowbrook chuckles.
Oane looks at Oraku and shrugs.
Oane says, "Your guess is as good as ours at this point."
Oane grins at Oraku.
Oraku nods.
Oane laughs at Willowbrook.
Oane says, "She seems very protective of her husband, but again he's blind."
Willowbrook nods.
Marsais asks Oane, "Could I get a look at the necklace?"
Oane gets a serrated piece of platinum dangling from a black cord necklace from inside his scholar's satchel.
Oane shows Marsais his cord necklace.
Oane smiles.
Marsais ponders.
Marsais says, "Thankyou sir."
Oane asks, "I do appreciate your time Willowbrook. Do you have any message for anyone in Theren that I could take for you?"
Oane smiles.
Oane nods.
Willowbrook says, "Yes, could you please tell that Frahnz that I am still waiting on the silk."
Oane chuckles.
Oane says, "I don't see her much but I'll do what I can."
Willowbrook says, "I shouldn't have trusted him."
Oane says, "Er, him rather."
Willowbrook says, "But he swore he knew best."
Oane says, "Oh goodness, speaking of which."
Oane says, "How embarassing."
Willowbrook says, "Cantankerous tailor."
Willowbrook nods to Serenanna.
Oane says, "Cleworth told me that Atheina was this blind man's sister."
Oane says, "Wyndz told me that Atheina was his daughter."
Oane says, "And she was sure of it."
Willowbrook asks, "Well, which is it?"
Marsais says, "Aodin I think his name was."
Oane says, "Sister but I said daughter."
Oane says, "And then I was wondering why they didn't trust me much later."
Oane chuckles.
Willowbrook says, "Hmm...that could make a difference."
Oane says, "He and his wife had some sort of secret laugh over that."
Oane twiddles his thumbs.
Palorn begins to sway slightly, clutching the standard tighter.
Oane says, "Well, Palorn and I should probably head back to Theren."
Oraku pats Palorn on the back.
Oane says, "I think she needs something to eat too."
Palorn says, "No, Sir, I am fine, Sir."
Oane raises an eyebrow in Palorn's direction.
Marsais asks Oane, "Would you like a gate back up to Langenfirth, sir?"
Oane says to Palorn, "Stay close Palorn."
Willowbrook quietly leans over and says to Oane, "That girl needs to relax a little."
Oane nods to Willowbrook.
Oane says, "We're ready."
Oane joins Gaborn's group.
Palorn joins Gaborn's group.
Marsais gestures.
In a blazing fountain of red-gold sparks, a red Moongate blazes into life.
Lifeguard Gaborn's group went through a red Moongate.
A red Moongate collapses in on itself.
Willowbrook says, "Well, that was most interesting."
Oraku nods to Willowbrook.
Willowbrook says, "Not how I expected my afternoon to go."
You see Guildleader Willowbrook Mysandanuva'r, an Elothean Trader.
Willowbrook has tilted almond-shaped crystal blue eyes. Her brown hair is long and straight, and is worn coiled in an upswept twist. She has fair skin.
She is fairly young for an Elothean.
She is in good shape.
She is wearing a stunning platinum ring set with a brilliant starburst crafted from chips of amethyst and blue topaz surrounding a vibrant citrine cabochon, a pair of slender amethyst-dusted platinum hairsticks tipped with tiny clusters of citrine and blue topaz, some tiny teardrops of
sparkling citrine suspended from fragile platinum hoops, a woven silk wrist purse dyed the exciting hues of the rising sun, a pale violet wrap finished at each end with intricately embroidered bands of light blue and subtle orange, a sleeveless gown of deep azure Elothean silk
embroidered around its high waistline and trailing skirt with tangerine and orchid scrollwork, a pair of simple silk slippers with gently rounded toes and a tiny carved ivory scroll suspended from a long strand of polished crystal beads.
You see Guild Researcher Oane Hannitraulm, a Human Paladin.
Oane has black eyes. He is bald, with pale skin.
He is aged for a Human.
He has a thick bushy mustache that droops heavily on his upper lip and a long shaggy beard.
He is in good shape.
He is holding a shiny red apple in his right hand.
He is wearing an ink-stained leather scholar's satchel, some brass-riveted jousting plate, a blue linen tabard dyed with the bright green emblem of the lion of Chadatru, a pair of burgundy leather boots lined in soft black wool, a jadeite gwethdesuan, a kyanite gwethdesuan and a black linen
bag.
You see Squire Palorn, an Elven Paladin.
Palorn has pointed ears and crystal blue eyes. Her silver hair is very long and thick, and is worn loose. She has tanned skin.
She is young for an Elf.
She is in good shape.
She is holding a thick oak standard bearing a flowing black silk banner embroidered with the Paladin's Guild crest in her right hand.
She is wearing a jadeite gwethdesuan, a kyanite gwethdesuan, a sturdy canvas backpack that is dusty and roadworn, some black leather travelers boots, a leather weapon harness with a unicorn tooled on the surface, a great helm, a tower shield embellished with a scale weighing an olive
laurel and a sword and a suit of well-cared for armor with minor dents and scratches.
Note, I didn't get a look at the necklace.. sorry about that.
