I am about to buy a new horse, but want to make sure I can joust with it.

Are there any minimums or requirements for the type of horse that can be used in jousting? Height? Type?

Thanks for your friendly, helpful replies.

PS. Lack of search feature in these message boards make it difficult to use old posts and old answers. Wish you guys at SIMU would add this feature.

Not sure think any size horse will do including ponys.

What bothers me is the jousters size, when jousting Ruslip I just cant see em, all I see is a shield and horse.

I think horse size has as much to do as jousters size, no effect in jousting at all.

Wodie.

Maybe Dwarves and Gnomes should stand up in the saddle so we can at least see there helms above the shields. :P

As Wodie stated there is no minimum on jousting but if you want to compete in things like the Kaith Kirm you have to wear plate (It's a requirement in the rules) Considering that the minimum would be 16 hands to wear plate on a horse. Hate to see you go buy a pony and then realize this.. minimum for wearing chain on a horse is a 14 hand horse.

Hmm not sure but I think size Requirements are for the horse as in 16 hand for plate and 14 for chain etc..not the person. Armor Reqs in the competition are for the person though. I think anyone can wear any armor on any horse size. I might be all wrong but Im sure thats how it works now.

So long as you are of the appropriate size, what you wear does not matter as far as a horse/pony is concerned.

Ponies are reserved for "small" races (Dwarves, Gnomes, Halflings). 5-hand pony is more than capable of carrying a Dwarf with approximately 2000 stones worth of gear on him, including full plate armor.

Thanks for the tips guys.

It seems like only the rider needs to wear plate in order to joust.

The horse does not need to be equipped in any special fashion, correct?

The only caveat would be, if you want to put plate armor on your horse, you have to make sure it is at least 16 hands?

Thanks everyone.

But a shield in your left hand, a lance in your right. Wear plate on your chest and helm. Then joust till your heart is content.
