Has anyone else had a problem with losing Tack? Before my last departure from game, I know for a fact that I placed my horses tack in my vault. Now, all of it's gone. I had a full set of tack too. The most expensive being the barding I had. I had lost it once before when the game crashed. A GM got it back then. Now It disappears from my vault? This is annoying.

I had a horse once...got auto-booted form some odd reason, when I came back...my horse had been auto-stabled, and all of its tack was gone...I sold the horse the next day...the loss of plats was at the time, too much for me. I assited and was told tough...to me horses are dead...I suggest you cut your losses and sell the nag now.
Of course, maybe its been fixed, but from the sounds of it, I am not too sure. Horses are a system with so many possibilities, all unrealized. It might get better someday, but I wouldnt hold your breath.

Hah, I still use my horse everyday, if I'm in game so is my horse. But, I learned my lesson a long time ago, I do not buy anything for my horse at all other than a saddle, blanket, and a caparison, the caparison is just something I have had. I also keep one bridle that is fancy, and a halter. I DO NOT BUY BARDING AT ALL!! simply put, I have lost it five times, had it replaced twice by the gm's, and the other three well, I was basically told "it isn't our problem....", needless to say that was annoying, in fact I got so angry about the last time I wasn't exactly overly nice to the gm I was speaking with. Anyway, just keep a saddle blanket, bridle, spare halter and the basics you need to groom and ride the horse, forget about everything else.
This is what I do to keep the things I do have safe, everytime I leave the game if I am stabling my horse I just take everything off and keep it in my pack, usually I am leaving the game if I stable my horse(PS:: I have never lost a blanket, saddle, or my caparison by placing them in my vault, ever. Other stuff yes, but not them.) If I am not stabling my horse I take everything off it, and exchange the nice bridle for the crappy halter, and then just leave the horse where it stands and exit the game, that way, should my horse get auto stabled or something else weird or unusual, the only thing I lose is a cruddy old halter I don't care about.
Now, for all those who keep saying sell the damn horse, get rid of it, blah blah blah, here's something to think about. If you train multi weapons, or if you are like me and train them all, a horse comes in extremely handy for a paladin. For example, I have only 30 ranks in staff slings, and I hunt vines, I can not hit the vines by myself with the sling, but when my horse is attacking it from behind, I can, and I now learn staff slings in a place where normally I can not. This same example works for every weapon I have that is below a critter, the horse stuns them, or knocks them down, making them easy to hit. So I don't have to move from one hunting spot to another to learn, and seeing as vines can not be halted, the horse comes in very handy in this example, so basically.. having a horse can be useful, it is not totally useless contrary to popular belief. I don't really care about the whole bonding part, if that happens it happens yaddy yadda. I just simply use it to help me learn what I can not learn without it, without having to move all over the place to do so. And for this one simple reason alone, I thank the gms for making it possible for me to train practically every weapon other than my primaries in one single spot, and all I have to do is is stand there and kill things to my hearts content.
And for those of you who don't train multi weapons, and don't see how a horse is useful, well, sucks to be you.

Its cool that horses actualy do something, Im very pleased that they can be used to train multi weapons, and can be an ally...I wasnt awareof this facet...
But I remain skeptically optimistic. If Ssra gets his claws wrapped around horses someday, then they might just turn out worth having. Seems everything Ssra touches comes up roses...we shall see.

I'm even cheaper when it comes to tack on my horse. I currently have a bridle and a blanket and thats all my horse wears, and both of those are el cheapo's available almost anywhere. I learned bareback riding from a ranger, so I dont need to worry about a saddle.
Yes, I take some flak for the RP factor, how I'm hurting my horse by wearing full plate armor myself and riding a horse with just a blanket between my metal backside and the horse, but until they fix this mysterious loss of barding and tack, I dont want to spend the coin. I would love to RP my horse as being a paladin warhorse, shiny armor, fancy blanket and saddle and all, but the cost of the barding and the fact that there's no guarantee of replacement if lost due to the bug, I'm not going there. My current wishlist includes about 35 plat lirums worth of tack and barding...I only want to pay it once, thank you, so I'll just wait.
In fact, I dont even have my horse out hardly at all anymore because of this and the fact that I cant even take my horse to most all of my favorite hunting areas. I wont sell her, I'm going to wait and see if the new Horse Guru can fix the problems horses have had since day 1 of their release.

I agree with you all, just like I posted in horses general suggestion in "skill folders"
If just the tack issue was made more player friendly, there would be more of use with our horses. Is this something they want in game, does it taxs to much resources, isnt that what DRII surposed to aliviate. Well heres hoping.
Hats of you to Darthor for bitting the bullet and keeping with your horse even though you dont (use) want to risk losing nice (paladin like) saddle and tack. I mean I thought about playing the game mechs instead of the Roleplay, just couldnt bring myself to do.
Fingers crossed something good this way comes.

I'm really glad paladins are posting here again. I usually just read and post over in the Horses folder. But even that has been a long time since I have due to the lack of response.
But I see that changing with GM Ceiswyn. Hopefully others as well.
On the tack issue, I always stable my horse, and get the tack bundled and either vault it or just keep it on me if I'm going to have the horse out again soon.
I've lost it only twice. But in each case it was due to a game crash and it was all replaced the same day.
But I am careful and always stable the horse.
