In every society in the history of the world the most holy people have had the power to determine what is and isn't holy. Give the most powerful Elanthian Paladins this ability. Excommunicate people and then anyone can do whatever they want to them, no soul hit! Or maybe give it to Clerics, but they would be too nice to use it (carebears). You could make it turn people evil and have holy weapons make them explode in a glorious spray of pure white light on impact. I like that.

A special struck down message could be inserted for these kinds of deaths:

*Arderr has been purified!

or

*Arderr's face was wrecked by holy pwnage! (My personal preference)

All thieves should be automatically and permanently excommunicated upon joining their guild.
