Figured since we were on the topic of paladins helping other paladins in terms of training. I thought I'd just say a thanks to Lennon.

I remember a few times in the guild you speaking about multiple armors.. that and Nisondra saying how you could train all armors in one setup. It was you Lennon who got me really into thinking about it, even though I never said anything I was always listening.

So here goes.. I don't like to post my skills, but in this case since I got my 20th goal, I thought I should just thanks, you were an influence in me getting them.

SKILL: Rank/Percent towards next rank/Amount learning
Shield Usage: 102 44% clear Leather Armor: 101 61% learning
Light Chain: 100 18% pondering Heavy Chain: 102 82% thoughtful
Light Plate: 101 31% learning Heavy Plate: 103 12% learning

Just a heads up for anyone who wasn't already aware. The forging system is slated for a rewrite and the ranks you have in a given armor set or weapon skill is going to have vastly diminished importance. The amount of smithing you've actually completed with the given item is going to be of prime importance. I'm not trying to burst anyone's bubble but Fial has clearly stated that this is his intention with the rewrite. If you aspire to be a master smith, you may wish to adjust accordingly.

Thanks for the heads up Mordril. Though it's not really a question of smithing to be honest. If I ever do get the to the armorer title I would like to have the sillks to go with it.

Training leather just out of pure curiosity to see if I can one day tan leathers.

Im getting close to ya Divy... my lowest armor is at 90 ranks.

I stopped wearing all five for a while... mainly because the leather I was wearing on my neck was getting me killed... almost daily...

<smile>

Any idea how to wear all five, learn all five and not put leather on your neck?

Deutz

who is happy to see his name in a subject on here <smile>

There's a few possibilities, most of which will require forged accessories to "set" the learning category:

HC Full Chain Helm
Leather Mask (the tanned eye-only kind)
LC Mail Gloves
HP Half Plate
LP Greaves

or....

HP Helm
LP Breastplate
LC Mail Gloves
HC Vambraces
Leather Greaves

(note: You can interchange the accessories pretty much however you please - Leather vambraces, LC Greaves, HC gloves, etc etc)

or....

Same as above, only with a chain lorica as the body armor and substituting LP for your LC in the accessories. Unfortunately, loricas are pretty flimsy, and as likely to get you killed as your leather aventail did <g>

Mixing and matching really isn't that hard, and largely depends on exactly which armor you want as your body armor, and how fast you want to learn the others.

Me, I wear only 2-3 different armors for the most part, but carry spare gloves set to the remaining types to swap out when the previous glove type is moving fine. It seems to work just fine - I've gotten HP to 200, LP to 131, and LC to 162 with pretty much 80% or more of those ranks by just using the glove-swapping method (also have 98 ranks of leather, about 80 of which came from listening to hunting partners teach. The SAFE way to train leather <ducks>)

Here's the armor I am currently wearing:

>inv armor
You are wearing some chain vambraces, some scale greaves, some falconer's gauntlets, a metal breastplate, a chain aventail, and a visored helm.
(shield is getting fixed)

Vambraces(LC-forged), Breastplate(LP-once again forged), greaves bought on the mainland somewhere(HC), chain aventail store bought(think LC-not sure though), Visored Helm (HC, bought on mainland), gauntlets.. leather obviously from Ratha.

I use DA at all times, since the protection on anything but HP isn't that great.. but low hinderance is wonderful.

As a side note I have a halfplate, some azurine hunters and an LC and HC shirt in my vault and swap over if my armors aren't that close.. something about having a pet peeve when they get far apart.

I don't know that much about mixed armors.. and perhaps another person could tell you more. However this seems to work for me so far.

Wear a leather aventail and a good forged light plate aventail. You will get the plates protection, but the leather aventail hinderance still draws a small percentage of experience. You can wear up to three aventails if you are wearing nothing else around your neck.

The following are the sets I generally recommend which allow the training of all 5 armors and allow a degree of mixing and matchin for your own personal style.

1) Chain Shirt (LC Torso and Arms), Visored helm (HP Head and Eyes),
Chain aventail(HC Neck) and Gauntlets (LP Hands) and Superior croc skin
greaves (Leather Legs)

2) Metal Breasplate (LP Torso), Chain Vambraces (HC Arms), Great Helm
(HP Head, neck and Eyes), mail gloves (LC Hands) and Superior croc skin
greaves (Leather Legs)

3) Half Plate (HP Torso and Arms), Full Chain helm (HC head and neck),
Superior croc skin mask (Leather eyes), Gauntlets (LP Hands) and
Chain greaves (LC Legs)

4) Field Plate Armor (HP Torso, Arms and Legs), Chain Helm (LC Head),
Superior croc skin mask (Leather eyes), Chain aventail (HC Neck) and
Gauntlets (LP Hands)

All the sets above are available forged/tanned by me if anyone is interested contact on

You guys have nice answers to the learn all at once. I chose not to mix-n-match. Personally, I always thought it looked rather ugly. So anyways, I chose to buy 5 complete sets of armor, one of each type. The most I will mix is LC with HC mail, or LP head/hand with FPA. For my forged peices, I dyed the Heavy Plate/Chain obsidian black, and the Light Plate/Chain midnight back to make it easy to figure out whats what.

Heres the tradeoffs, as I see it.

Con: Constantly changing armor, this really sucks if your in leucros, or some other out of the way place, and dont carry the extra set with you. Running back and forth to the vault gets somewhat tiring.

Con: To avoid the vault thing, carry two sets, which increases burden. I can get away with this on critters that I appoach the soft cap for learning, so it is somewhat negated.

Pro: basically you get 5 cracks at each critter type your hunting. This leads to keeping weapons, magic and defenses locked for much longer periods of time.

Pro: Because I started training all armors rather late, I am easily training many weapons, appropriate in skill to my armors, therefore more TDP's.

Pro: By having head (eyes/neck), hand, and all body in three peices its easy to undress, and dress for boxes, jail, departs, etc.

Pro: Dammit, its just looks better <g>

Just some thoughts from a different perspective.
