I have noticed some artwork of female Elotheans where they are wearing a piece of jewelry/ornamentation to cover up their fiveheads. It is mostly in fan art, but I do notice that the artwork for Kukalakai has it. Is this a real Elothean thing, and if so what is it called? If not, I think it would be a neat thing to add to the list of feature-altering jewelry out there.

I'd think it's a diadem. Many prominent Elothean leaders wear them:

Without seeing the artwork in question, and just going off the elanthipedia page for Kukalakai, could be a ferroniere. I always thought of them being a lovely accent/jewelry piece given the high foreheads of the Eloths. Below is how they were described in the old Tokens of Affection shop (https://elanthipedia.play.net/mediawiki/index.php/Tokens_of_Affection):
These delicate ferronieres are worn about the head with the gem positioned in the center of the wearer's forehead. Keep in mind that they are a sign of wealth and respect. They are NOT armor, and if treated as such I will not be held responsible for their condition. All sales are final -- no refunds or exchanges will be granted.

It's a hair net/mesh with head chain:

Ferronieres are generally a single chain with gem setting and not as large/heavy as the one in the official art is.
