I like the movie "The Remains of the Day." In it, Anthony Hopkins plays an emotionally rigid butler who spends most of the movie stoically facing one tragedy after another. Near the end of the movie he finally snaps out "Damn it!" in a way that feels more shocking than any casual string of profanity I've ever heard.

When exclaiming or accenting the English language, less is more. Constant modification merely creates a new and harder to read baseline, much like casual profanity robs it of any shock value.
