I know the smoke image of braclet was given for a prize at some time, I think the KK tourney. Does anyone know if the person who won it ever taught it to anyone? Are they even in the realms anymore? Not an Olvi by birth, but enjoy the smoking images and braclet is the last one I don't have I think. I am adequate on all the other 21. Could someone also verify there are only 22 total?

The Bracelet was... Fizzia? But whoever it was, I believe J'Lo is right. No one in Prime ever learned that image except for the original creator of the image. There was lots of groaning and much more drama than there ever should have been. It was explained at the beginning that it was entirely up to the winners to teach (or not teach) the image to others and that the winners' decisions were final.

I can confirm for you, though, that there are only 22 smoke images (for now). Another one will be added to Platinum only some time after the countdown is completed, and then the 2nd and 3rd place image from our contest will be added to all instances some time after that.

All the Plat Olvi know the image, unlike prime. So, Plat has all the images Prime has and Plat can teach all 22 images unlike prime where only 1 person can/could teach all 22 images. The rest of Prime Olvi can only teach/blow 21 images. Plat 22, Prime 21. Neither side has one image up from the other. And that is why I say the score is already settled.

Now I know there has been some rather emotional messages on the boards in regards to the bracelet image and I have read all those posts. Since I wasn't the Chamption at that point in time, I can't say what that person was thinking or doing. To be quite honest, I don't know why most Plat Olvi got the image to learn (when the contest originated in Prime) where Prime was given only one Olvi to learn it, who had the ability to keep it to themself or teach it to others. And since that GM is no longer on staff, I can't ask them. However, I'm not going to go back on what was done at the time. From my point of view, it's in the past and continuing to bring it up only serves to be mean or hurtful. And that doesn't do any of us any good. We're Olvi, after all! Be happy, joyful and let's have fun, food and booze instead!

Now having said that, I will almost always write down all the rules to a contest so you guys know ahead of time what's going on. I will also write in what prizes the winner(s) will be receiving, so you also know ahead of time. I am always willing to listen to constructive criticism on things I have done or are doing. So if you disagree with something I've put down, by all means let me know (nicely, of course). I will take into account what you've said so long as it's not something I have already made a decision on and implemented. I can't change the past, no matter how much you guys would like me to.

So from this point forward, open communication is what I'm striving for. I've always said from the beginning that I welcome all input - whether they be rants or raves - and ideas. So don't be shy and just talk to me. I won't bite your head off. I may send my mascot after you but that's a different story ;-)

I wasn't there for the contest, so I can't speak from first hand info. It has always been my understanding that the three contest winners were each given their image and from there, it was their choice of whether to spread it around or not. 1 of the winners quickly choose to pass on their image of the web. 2 choose to keep it unique to themselves. 1 of those 2 left DR and one Olvi person convienced the GM to have a session to teach it to other Olvi, that was the phoenix image and how I learned I was missing images and the only time I have met Bungles. The last image, bracelet remains with the original owner and some non-Olvi who of course, can not teach it (the last part only word of mouth, nothing definite). The bad feelings came in when the two folks of the two images did not want to pass on their image. From what I have gathered, Olvi felt the images belonged to the race, not the person.

I can see both sides of the fence on it all, personally. In a world where its hard to be unique and stand out or be known for something, having such an item is a way to be unique among a race. By the same token, smoke images are a unique item. Unlike other contests for designing an item, usually the item is placed in a store where many will have the chance to purchase the item. Perhaps that would be a good way to deal with smoke images in the future, make it where a visit to a store or merchant or elder Olvi NPC who for a price, will gladly pass on a choosen smoke image.

Either way, it is the past. I am not speaking for everyone, just my own personal feelings. I do not wish for any bad feelings to crop up over new images nor do I wish for people to throw mud at any contest winner nor do I want those contest winners of the past to have to deal with old issues again. Prime Olvi have not "silently" sulked. The issue has died then come back to life a few times. Each time a new Olvi from prime learns there is an image out there they do not know, the question comes back again and the issue comes up again. I myself am guilty of that one! After learning all the heartache that happened over it, I personally am embarrassed at my reaction to the image and its owner.

Well, that is the last I'm posting on it all. Sometimes responding to an issue, no matter the good intentions, only serves to pour salt in a wound. I do appologize to any if my posts have done that, it was not my intentions. I merely want to make sure we have learned from our past and are not doomed to do the samething over again, expecting different results.

Me, I personally don't feel resentment is the feeling, though, being told "we have this and you don't" or "we're getting this and you aren't" doesn't help keep a rift of resentment from starting. ;-)

Aha, yep, thanks. I hadn't been around for the contest so I didn't know the rules and what happened when ya won. Nor did I have access to plat to know 'bout it in the first place. ;)

Just curious, but when we have one for Prime, will it be listed there than the 1st place will be Prime-only?

In the mean time while I'm being impatient though... any chance of getting some Olvi plate, like the Olvi leathers, when our merchants come to town? I love how the hunting leathers have Olvi in the name and would rather enjoy having the same on a set (covering limbs and torso in one piece preferably). Though, I would also like to request no silly pictures painted/engraved on it... like an Olvi standing on a mound of vanquished tarts guzzling from a Tipple keg on the breastplate. While that's nifty and all... I'd much rather have a more subtle engravings myself.

I don't ask for nearly enough from you I don't think! I'll have to work on another list or five.

Well, thanks I guess to everyone for at least being mostly civil this time around...

The only point I'll repeat, why I don't know, is having been a part of the original contest Fial threw, I can assure you the PERCEPTION was that the winners would get a unique, personal smoke image. The teaching part struck me as an afterthought--Fial made that into an OPTION. A cursed one it turns out ;-)

I also remember distinctly that Fial had intended to release, don't laugh, ONE NEW SMOKE IMAGE EVERY MONTH. At that rate, I think you can see where he did not think it was hurting Prime to have a few lucky Olvi have their own images. If he knew those 21 or 22 images were going to be all Prime had for years and years... true, he might not have gone that route. So, no offense to any GMs, but I sort of feel if there were a 100 images, nobody would miss one. But because, for whatever reason, the GMs haven't released any new ones since, the populace demanded Fizzia play GM and release her's.

Also, one could check back into the archives, but I don't know that either of the other 2 winners taught their's--I believe they both left the realms and that's why they were released.

Plat got them--maybe they were released to individuals, but his intention was for Plat to get all 3, period. For no other reason than as a benefit to Plat.

So anyway, I've enjoyed the meetings. I can't see how I can make time to get playing again, but I am trying. I miss my knoll :-(
