Having been a while since much of much meaning was discussed here, I figured I would try and start some dialog.
First, let me give caveat that the following is in no way official, and most of it came about from discussions a few of us had after having our imaginations sparked by Bella.
Bella has moved on to bigger things, apparently, leaving us once more in the murky depths. However, during her tenure, she started some of us thinking along the lines of establishing some history beyond what the timeline offers us, something to flesh out the timeline a bit.
One of the main points of one discussion involved fleshing out the idea of the tribes. It was somewhat agreed upon by those at that meeting that the number of tribes should be seven (I think). Among those tribes were to be the Mammoth Riders, the Woodland tribe, the Mountain tribe, the Mariner tribe, and some others that escape memory at the moment.
One thing Bella wanted to see was input gained from various contests along with outright player submissions. The input would then be considered for possible addition to the Kaldaran canon, the history of our people.
So, this I put now to you, gentle reader. Let's throw some ideas out here on the boards to document our discussions and suggestions toward developing the history of our people.
As a first topic, I offer the following: Naming the seven tribes.
Mammoth Riders- Nomadic warriors and peacekeepers. Bearers of news between the tribes. Mainly dwelling in plains areas and moving from place to place based upon the food needs of their namesake companions.
Mountain Tribe- Miners, trappers, gemsmiths. Known for jewelry.
Mariner Tribe- Traders, fisherman (maybe whalers if we had such) and sea warriors.
Woodland Tribe- Survivalists, nature oriented. Centered on the original nature oriented ideals of the Kaldarans.
Defenders of the Mist- Guardians against the Ocular. One idea I had was that the Kaldaran Hail originated in this Tribe because one of the ancient ways to prove one was not an ocular was to cut one's palm, drawing blood, and then showing it to those you approach.
Tribe of Magi- Mainly Magic users in this tribe, though each of the tribes have some magic users within them. This tribe were the scholars, studying the various uses of magic in great depths.
Agricultural Tribe- Farmers and food providers. Growing of crops and livestock to supply the food needs of Albaria.
There are my suggestions. I look forward to reading yours.

Thanks for listing some tribe ideas, Maulem. I wasn't around for Bella so it's good to hear what was discussed.
As for myself, I've always thought of the Kaldar as self-sufficient above all. So within any tribe (or sub-tribe), I kind of expect a hunter-gatherer approach. I can also see the Kaldar emphasizing individual self-sufficiency, such that everyone is expected to learn to be a warrior in addition to having basic gathering, crafting, and caring duties.
That said, there's plenty of room for each tribe to be tailored to different areas. I would just personally trend away from, e.g., having a tribe that provides food for the other tribes. Rather, I'd have each tribe be exceptionally good at living within a particular natural area: mountains, woodland, sea, plains(?), and have at least one that's nomadic (e.g. Mammoth Riders). I also really like the Ocular guards as an idea.
Also important, I think, should be some lore dealing with the fact that Albaria is very snowy -- how do the tribes handle this? Are there some that are in less snowy areas?
I'd also like to see a bit more about the various roles of magic-users. There are hints that priests and prophets are revered, but other contradicting info that says that the Kaldar don't really like magic (this seems awfully limiting from an RP perspective).

Good input. I also like your ideas about tribe generalization. In my head, each tribe indeed has a mix of folks that perform various functions. I.E. the ag tribe isn't the SOLE provider of food for all, but that is the thing they specialize in/are known for. Similarly, the Magi aren't the singular tribe for magic users, but the in-depth study of all things arcane is their bag, baby.
I'm glad you mentioned geography. My tribe ideas are based on my perception of Albarian geography and climate. While most hold to the "frozen tundra" view of Albaria, I prefer to think of the tundra part being approximately the southern third of the continent, with the remainder moving from cool to more temperate as you move northward, with a large plains buffer between the mountains and the rest of Albaria. The western (or rather western north of the tundra) my mind's eye populates with the forested areas, while the mist/ocular are to the southeast. The eastern coast, particularly in the north, borders on the Sea of Reshal, and various west-to-east rivers stream from the mountains to the sea, giving rise to the mariners and a means for them to travel up stream on trade routes.
Caveat, it's been too long since I've read the timeline in detail, and I may have the location of the mist/ocular switched around. Hell, I may be totally off base. But this picture of Albaria is what I see.

>>>Tribe of Magi- Mainly Magic users in this tribe, though each of the tribes have some magic users within them. This tribe were the scholars, studying the various uses of magic in great depths.
Not a Kaldar, but my recollection (admittedly vague) of tribal organization is that the Magi/Shamen have their own organization that goes across tribes rather than having their own tribe. Whether the shaman in one tribe is at odds with the shaman in another tribe generally had little to do with whether the two tribes were at odds.
Not meant as a critical comment, just tossing in a thought,
