I noticed this thread was rather dead, and I thought I'd throw out an idea I have been kicking around.

I understand that there is a large 'back to nature' ideal running through Kaldar lore, but I think it would be cool to have a tribe that underscored the "more of a political party than a different race" aspect of the lore. I have no idea about a name for it, but I was thinking that, lore-wise, it could have started by a group of Gnomish and Gorbesh soldiers who, when they arrived for the invasion, found themselves idealogically at odds with their gorbesh and gnomish COs and deserted. I don't think they would necessarily feel like a part of the "Kaldar" social infrastructure, but they are definitely no longer Gorbesh, and now stranded in this part of the world.

It seems like a lot of the clan suggestions are clans whose ideologies were developed in the Kaldar homeland, and I think it would be interesting to have one that was developed post-migration. I think this would be a good clan for the Kaldar who were around at the time and RP themselves as former Gorbesh soldiers, as well as for 2nd- or 3rd-generation Kaldar who, having grown up in an environment dissimilar to what their forefathers had, have less desire to "go back to their roots."

I view them as similar to the "Brotherless" clan of Aiel in the Wheel of Time series - refugees and vagabonds who most likely are not really looked highly upon by the rest of the Kaldar clans, but are accepted in a "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" kind of a way. I see this clan as a very secular and loosely organized one, and would be a good fit for "civilized" (re:city-dwelling) guilds, like traders, thieves, bards, etc. More of a focus on establishing an existence in THIS realm than on upholding ideals of their ancestors.

Them's my thoughts. take 'em or leave 'em.
