Since the new experience changes skillset placement means less with regard to trainablity of skills, our secondary skillsets are armor and weapons. We have one weapons skill/perk/ability , well maybe two if you count dual load, but snipe might be considered more of a survival skill perk really. We currently have no armor perks of which I am aware. I honestly wish we were magic secondary as the skill overall seems far more useful and secondary magic guilds get decent related perks or should.
Also any plans to maybe please add a possiblity that a critter drops a weapon or shield with the knockback effect of grizzly claw?

I personally like our skillset placement. I see Rangers as a fighter class without the "RAWR HULK SMASH" personality of Barbarians. As for the magic, while we do have a myriad of spells from support to offensive and debuffing spells, I believe the Ranger spellbook is frankly too boring; if they were to ever make Rangers magic secondary, I think they should spice up the current selection first. Some of the spells just seem pointless.
As for my selfish reasons, I'd prefer to be able to keep my armor and shields on par with the rest of my combat skills so I don't have to sit in an area where the critters won't give me a lick of exp for my weapons and survivals, just to keep my tertiary skills rolling.

Given that my magic ranks are higher than my armor ranks, I'd love to have that switch happen :-D
>Also any plans to maybe please add a possiblity that a critter drops a weapon or shield with the knockback effect of grizzly claw?
We need to get away from the habit of spells that try to do too much.... I'd rather have a separate spell that disarmed well than one that kinda-sorta knocks back and kinda-sorts disarms, even if I have the magic skills to put a ton of mana behind them.

Counting snipe and stealth-related perks (scout awareness, slip, lowest stealth hindrance etc.) as survival perks and Rangers still have...
- Dual load.
- Reduced RT load from quiver.
- Weapons boosts. (STW & COTC)
- Hunter's bows.
- Loading while wearing a shield. (heh)
- Petrify beseech.
- Tanning/fletching bonuses.
- Offhand medium weapons. (skillset perk)
- Armworn medium shields. (skillset perk)
Someone had an idea for a shield of thorns spell or something along those lines that Z said he liked. Petrify beseech could also use some work, along with the rest of the beseeches, but if there's a shield spell and an armor enhancer I don't really think you'd need anything else for armor secondary. A damage reducer might be nice as well but there's always MAF. Weapons secondary is also looking pretty good, but there are definitely room for things like ambushes and maybe some MO/parry/balance boosters. Personally I'd wait to see how new combat shakes out before requesting combat related stuff.

Considering what was just recently posted regarding the necessity of armor in the new combat system... please please please do not take away the armor as a secondary skillset... if anything make that and survival BOTH primary :-D thankyou

- Dual load. I listed this, the accuracy on it is not that great nor is the damage.
- Reduced RT load from quiver. Depends on the quiver, not all of them work in this fashion.
- Weapons boosts. (STW & COTC) These are spells,I was listing abilities/skills if you want to count spells I could name plenty of guilds which have weapon and armor creation/boosting spells, some of which are tert.
- Hunter's bows. I am not entirely sure what the benefits are of this but as you need 100th circle and a mech req to even make them, and they are still mainly the boost is to stealth not damage or accuracy. This will likely be changed away with the mech lore split
- Loading while wearing a shield. (heh) Pretty sure lots of other guilds can do this.
- Petrify beseech. Considering you must be in a wilderness area, with decent bonus and you get maybe 8 minutes or something, no timer on it exactly. The boost doesn't seem all the measureably impressive either, this only works on leather armor btw.
- Tanning/fletching bonuses. This will likely be changed with the mech lore split.
- Offhand medium weapons. (skillset perk) No idea how to train offhand weapon other than light thrown which crawls for me.
- Armworn medium shields. (skillset perk)I have no idea where you would aquire an arm worn shield which doesn't increase load time and is resistant to damage as well as being medium. Even if I could, whether or not they protect noticably more than small sized is still debatable.

>>Telger's list
See above. Seriously, user LERASHA, it's time to get off the "Rangers are so neglected" horse. They literally have more skillset-related perks than any other guild in the game; I honestly have no clue where you got it into your head that they are somehow neglected in this one area.

>Dual load. I listed this, the accuracy on it is not that great nor is the damage.
It's still a weapon perk.
>Reduced RT load from quiver. Depends on the quiver, not all of them work in this fashion.
Unless you found a bugged one, yes, they all work like this. You need 30 agility and reflex to get it every time.
>Hunter's bows. I am not entirely sure what the benefits are of this but as you need 100th circle and a mech req to even make them, and they are still mainly the boost is to stealth not damage or accuracy. This will likely be changed away with the mech lore split
They make the snipe contest easier. A successful snipe (and it seems like a failed snipe currently) provides more damage.
>Offhand medium weapons. (skillset perk) No idea how to train offhand weapon other than light thrown which crawls for me.
Feint left, draw left, slice left, chop left, etc.

... you wouldn't. That doesn't negate the fact that it's a skillset perk to be able to wear a medium shield on your arm. They (tanned medium shields) do protect better than small shields, however they carry more hindrance, which at high levels kind of negates the increased shield protection. Larger shields have a larger "save" chance than smaller shields on any given attack.
It's still a weapon perk.

In my experience, I do not see a noticable increase in damage on successful snipes, and there may even be a penalty on failed ones. I would have considered it possibly my imagination, but I recall a higher level Ranger having stated this as well. I could still be wrong, but if that is the case then it would seem likely to be some sort of static bonus that becomes irrelevant at higher ranks.
Poach, on the other hand, does seem to increase damage, but everyone can use that.

If it doesn't work like this already, snipe should work like the following:
full success: surprise (snipe bonus) and remaining hidden
partial succcess: surprise (poach bonus) but not hidden
failure: no surprise, not hidden
At least we have poach against two-legs now so we can use a stealth attack in PvP without worrying about some GM taking snipe away on a whim. :-(

I posted some data (a few hundred tracked shots) and snipe and poach give about the same bonus (if both are executed successfully) to damage. It's not the over-powered-super-duper bonus that most non-snipers make it out be, but it's there. Numbers are hit level on the standard accepted 22 level scale.

I tested (albeit briefly) with a Ranger about 6 months back. I'd shield block every single one of his full aim shots. Full aim snipes that I spotted would nail me.
Others have noticed the same thing, but I definitely didn't do any remotely scientific testing.

Could be that there's something specifically anti-shield about sniping, I suppose. Either that or, again, it just becomes irrelevant at higher ranks. Either way, I still do not personally see a difference, but I would have to go to something at-level with a shield to test. Do armadillos have a shield-like thing?
