I don't know where to post this idea but I think it would be cool to have a indicator to tell you when you have earned the ability to wear a certain title:
It could be like this:
You have just earned a new Primary Magic title!
or
You have just earned a Survival1 title!
I think it would just be helpful and a cool little thing to let you know of your latest reward.

I believe previous answers to this request is that it would be too resource-intensive to have frequent passive checks for titleness like this. The current system works because you have to actually request the listings for them to display.

That's not how I remember it. Something about the available titles being calculated upon login...Was this changed, as I seem to recall at least a few people being told they have the reqs meant but the titles weren't showing up for them?

I just use a script to display all of my available titles. Sure, I don't get an automatic message when I'm eligible for a new one, but it works. I typically don't use the highest title available to me anyway, so that's fine for my purposes.

Titles always show up for me immediately upon acquiring the ranks for them. At least, one did the other day.

I just think they could have the title system like they have the scroll system. That it, let you know upon login to the game if you recently received a new title. I don't know, or maybe when you list your titles out that they let you know when you received it (date) and what it took to earn it (ranks of xxx).

I'd like to be able to do something like "title pre <group> <title> req" or "title pre req <group> <title>". Something along those lines, where once we achieve/notice the title, we can inform friends (or the boards) of what it took to achieve it.
Granted that doesnt alert you of when you get it, but at least older members could alert us of what it takes to acquire certain titles. Maybe even have it where you can choose a title to look at the req's even if you dont have it, as long as you know what group its in, and the name of the title.
>title pre req ranger outlander
That title requires 700 scouting, 800 perception, 800 hiding, and 800 stalking.

We can't do that.
The Alteration Scroll system is tracking the status and condition of one item for one person.
To do this for titles, every time someone logged in, we would have to evaluate their skills (100 or so) and then compare those skills with EACH title (currently over 2500 titles) to see if they qualified, then make sure they weren't already notified that they had access to that title the last time they logged out, and then return an answer to them. Then we'd have to store all the data about which titles each character has access to AND the ones they were notified about on each character. PLUS, every time anyone in the game gained a rank in any skill, we'd have to repeat the process if we wanted to tell them they got access to a new title with that rank in Lockpicking they just earned.
So...not just no, but heeeeeeeeeeck no.

Other than not wanting people to be able to look up the requirements for certain titles, the issue with this is that lots of the Reqs are written up in "GM Speak" and wouldn't make much sense.
We could always re-write the code or add additional code to "translate" them, but then we get back to the first issue.

So that's why you run the check each time a skill gains a rank and only against those titles that have that skill as a requirement (not every time a player logs in). There's really not that much involved providing you have a well designed datastore and know how to write efficient queries.

I agree with this. As far as titles are concerned they should be listed along with the requirements somewhere on play.net. It's nice to have goals other than circling to break up the monotany every once in awile.

<<may I ask why? Personally I'd like to see the information out there, rather than PAFO.>>
For the same reasons that were explained when the system was released.
When the title pages get updated, there will be titles with a complete list of skills and all reqs shown, titles with a complete list of skills and partial reqs shown, titles with a partial list of skills and complete reqs shown, and some titles that won't show up at all and will have to be discovered.
Title reqs make as much sense as possible when they're assigned. In addition, title progressions will generally follow a pattern when they are put in order and the reqs are assigned. With a little investigation, a little speculation, and a little bit of math, its not too hard to come up with a good idea of the unlisted requirements. Personally, I enjoy watching the discussions as people work out their ideas and, many times, I or other GMs will provide more information as the discussion continues.
The plan has always been to handle titles this way. I had no intentions of changing that plan when the system was first released and I have no intentions to deviate from that plan now. There are plenty of other "puzzles" in the game that we don't explain, particularly ones that do not directly affect your gameplay. This is another. We are generally quite good about not pulling "PAFO" on mechanics issues or significant gameplay matters (::glances at some of Zeyurn and Ssra's recent posts::) but for things that are icing or fluff? Sure. PAFO.

ok so whats the key factor in MR? since thats also a PAFO and is significant to gameplay. how does one raise it which stat\stats helps the most.
In reguards to titles i think that IF the title page was updated we could make our guesses. And no i'm not just talking about ranger titles.

Honestly I don't wanna know the reqs for titles. I'm selfish and to forward it would only make People, script a few skills to get a Highend title instead of putting in the work or natraully coming about a title.
I just wanted a List of titles since the release so I can see what was added and what wasn't. Knowing titles are out there is fun.

Good point and I've smacked myself for not thinking about it that way. BUT, you didn't say that it wasn't impossible to come up with some sort of way to let us know that we've gained a new title. I think it would be a great idea, it would be another bell and whistle that would keep us at the DR slot machine, pulling down that lever so our subconscious addiction to this game could be given another dose of, "SWEEEEEET, I got a new rank/title/circle".

Lol, I love it. Solomon, while you're glancing over our boards could you give any approval/disapprovals of ability suggestions people have posted?
We all post suggestions from time to time, and some of them sound excellent. But if we knew which ones would fly and which would not, we would (I speak for myself primarily, but I'm sure some others would as well) alter our suggestions to ones that would be more attractive to Ranger developers.

Paklin,
I don't know how to post this without sounding negative, and for that I am sorry. But where have you been?
Short, simple posts like, "this is being worked on" and "this is going to happen" make us quiet and complacent. Not responding to any of the questions you said you read all the time only makes us bitter and angry at our lack of communication (and development since we don't know what is going on).
I truly appreciate your recent communication, so please don't distance yourself from us again. I'll even post only positive posts...and I'm pretty sure anyone who reads our boards can appreciate that.
Thanks again,
Rizitel

<<I don't know how to post this without sounding negative, and for that I am sorry. But where have you been?>>
You always sound negative.
Knowing that Paklin is getting and reading the Suggestions that we put out is enough. Good Development takes time, I'd rather have something done right then be given another half done system that is even more buggy and useless then some of the things that are currently being fixed. A few of the things mentioned are big ticket things that rangers probably will benefit from. I know Nature's pool as been long awaited by most rangers. Well I can only speak for myself but sacrificing spirit health was more costly then worthwhile for somethings such as petrify and refresh. I'd love to see a great system like beseeches be expanded improved and give then polish and shine job it needs to be a Key ranger System.
Oh and as for the titles, Thanks for taking our suggestions into consideration. I do realize that it'd be time consuming to post a total list of all the reqs. Some I'd rather just PAFO to see what are required. Nature's Fury, Nature's Titan, and a few more that I don't know the reqs for have me training like mad now.
So thanks guys for the hard work.
