I plan on holding another skinning challange soon. I'm curious what kind of in game events the guild would like to see held. Keep in mind it needs to be an event that everyone can participate in, but ranger oriented. Also try to keep the novices in mind when you throw out an idea. I want to hear you guys thoughts on events.

What's been done before.

Ranger Campouts.
Ranger Picnics
Skinning challanges
Anything else?

No Ranger Stands Alone.

We're rangers, we need bow events.

Think we could pull off something along the lines of a training range, with participants having to walk a course shooting (or not shooting, as appropriate) "targets" jumping out of shadows or something? We're creative, but I dunno that twitch works well at all in a text game.

Does TARGET work with bows at all or beyond being an AIM synonym? With a loaded bow in hand, perhaps we could use various keywords to set up a called shot:

1)TARGET OVER ROCK THROUGH HOOP UNDER BUSH
2)AIM
3)FIRE TARGET
4)
You fire a whatever kind of arrow at an archery target.
It flies over the rock!
It flies through the hoop!
Due to a miscalculation on your part, the arrow flies into the bush and gets stuck!

You fire a whatever kind of arrow at an archery target.
It flies over the rock!
It flies through the hoop!
It flies under the bush!
It thunks into the target!

Standard HORSE rules would apply, so if the participant makes the shot and hits the target, the next participant has to attempt the same shot (if they fail they get a letter, if they get the E then they bow out). The next participant after the fail gets to call the new shot.

Ranger Roulette (yeah, you know where this one's going...)
Two rangers (randomly selected, only allowed to appear once in each round) hold bows loaded with "blind" arrows, line up back-to-back. Each takes ten paces and faces the other. Each is given a chance to fire on the other. Results can be:

1)the arrow explodes into dust as soon as it leaves the bow
2)the arrow fires, missing the target
3)the arrow fires, hitting the target

Scoring is as follows:

-each ranger is given X points (100?)
-each arrow shot is -5 points
-death is -10 points, though all scoring stops at zero

Winner is the one with the most points after the final round.

Simple Archery Contest

Meet at the target range (any will do)

Archers are grouped by skill level in bow

Archers are "lined up" and loose 3 arrows at the target. Arrows are counted up for a final score
Advance X number of archers to the next round. Rinse and repeat until 2 archers remain to compete in the finals.

Standard scoring rules apply: center = 9 down to the outer ring = 1.

Example:
12 archers compete. Create 2 lines of 6. Advance 2 from each round (sends 4 archers to the semis), advance 2 from the remaining 4 to get your final 2 archers. Winner take all.

In the event of a tie a 1 arrow shoot off will take place. First to miss loses. Target can be moved back if necessary. Starting distances relevant to archers skill (I know there's a formula for it, I just don't know what it is)

Today my wife asked me when I was going to clean the patio. I said "Soon", to which she replied, "Who's version of soon? Yours or mine?
"Simutronics", I replied. I'll be sleeping on the couch for awhile.

I love the archery ideas. Sorry, TARGET won't work that with arrows, sadly. Otherwise we could have the archery contest of the century (target, over tree, under bush, around rock, past the Faldesu, over Haven, around Throne City, over the Reshal Sea, thunk into a volcano on Aesery).

I would love to have another naked ranger race, with catagories, younger rangers starting from the wall outside Theren, and older ones from the tree in vines, and really older ones, in Seords (try ducking the lightening bolts naked and get extra points ; P).

Along the way, have to skin some things appropriate for groups, find certain things, climb certain things and swim certain places where appropriate, first on into Boar Clan wins in each group, provided they have met all the skinning, hunted items and not used any mules, no MM's, asked for no help anywhere etc.

The run can be divided by circle. 1-10, 11-20, 21-40, 41-70, 71+. As you move up, there are significantly fewer natural things that can slow you down or threaten you and after a certain point it's just the critters really.
