Looking for a Band of Merry (Wo)Men on 08/20/2008 06:01 PM CDT

Not so much of an event but an idea i'm toying with.

I'd like to form a band of merry rangers, steal from the rich (or obnoxious) and donate to the poor and needy. This band does not have to work in unison all the time, though partner pillaging may help stifle the bordom of a typical day in DR. I'll advise with any tips of the trade for anyone who needs a hand getting started with the skill.

Code:
- Old school thief rules with a twist: No empaths at all, leave the young clerics and rangers alone.
- Keep your profits but...
- Hand off those plats when you hear that youngin in the guild talking about trying to save up for a compendium/nice leathers, etc
- Useful shoplifted items like camb rings, pricey herbs, etc donated to general public
- Spontaneous gifts to those good people you meet
- Sport some sort of yet-to-be-decided marking. I'm eyeing the stylish hairwraps with feathers from horse clan

Basically looking to add in a bit more socializing RP while raising interest in a really viable survival skill for rangers. Not looking to form a terroizing band of thieves.

Any interest?

Sounds interesting. Can we go to war when the thieves declare we're infringing upon their teritory? =)

Would be fun to play out, I think. I like thieves.

I like thieves also, but it depends on how you cook 'em.

Nah, just sneak them in in small chunks and the kids'll never notice. Like vegetables.

For anyone considering this but worried about a lack of skill or knowledge on theivin, I just wanna say you won't find a better teacher then Jalika. So if ya interested definately look into it, she is the ranger guru on the topic.

I love the idea, Jailika. Be a nice way to improve stealing at the least and fun at the same time. Me, I'm not such a big fan of stealing from others, though stealing things I'm not against. And I quite agree, there is no better stealer in our guild, I think, than Jailika.

About the hairwrap idea though--if you are a Tog ranger, you won't be able to wear them. My lady Tog barb tried one once. No dice. Never mind that goes on the HEAD even though it 's a hairwrap. : (

Also, Jailika, it would be really good if you get such a group, that you and older rangers, use the opportunity to instruct the rangers in ranger stuff, history, code and such. Just an example, I find it sad, few new rangers know why we befriend the blood wolves (the letter in the guild).
